I was Undergraduate Head at UT Knoxville for a while. It was a very stressful job, although with the life experience I've accumulated since then, I could probably do it with less stress nowadays.
Trump 2.0 removed all the competent people and replaced them with loyalists. Now we're paying the price.
Trump shot the US in the foot with tariffs, but at least it was something mostly under his control which he could withdraw as markets got spooked. With the war in Iran and closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump has done something that can't be easily recovered from.
