But the aspect of this city that has left the strongest impression on me is its people. They are exceptionally welcoming, and they embrace diversity to their core. The way they fought for their neighbors in the face of federal oppression will stick with me for a lifetime. This country has heart yet.

It gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer, but it has long springs and autumns compared to what I am used to. A huge portion of this year was very comfortable, temperature-wise, which led me to spend far more time outside than I had in years past.

I experienced Aurora Borealis for the first time in Minneapolis this year. It was gorgeous!
It also snows in Minneapolis. A lot! They do a great job of keeping the sidewalks cleaned off.
I've only lived in #minneapolis for a single year, but I can already tell I'm going to miss it. I'll post some observations in the thread, but to start: this city is absolutely gorgeous! I experienced all four seasons in full this year, and I loved it.

Most of my stuff will be shipping this coming Thursday, but I won't actually be departing until the 21st. So during that 9 day stretch I'm going to try and finish FF9. I'm at the beginning of the second disc now with a well-leveled party. #FFIX
Relocating has got to be a bottom 3 activity for me, yet here I find myself packing up in preparation of my second cross-country move in two years. I'm sad to leave a home I've only just begun to get to know, but I'm hopeful this new chapter of my life will open new doors in time.
My friends showed me @midnightsumo.bsky.social's Twitch stream last night and it turns out, Sumo is way more fun to watch than I expected. Even if you're not typically a sports fan, I heartily recommend checking it out! #sumo

I finished DQ1 last night! I suspect my Hero was a little underleveled, because it took a billion attempts to finally take down the final boss and from what I'm reading online, it's not supposed to be that hard lol. I started DQ2 just after that, but I was only able to play a few hours before sleep.
Down to 3 HP and 2 MP, I was faced with a decision: use a healing item or attack and hope I get the kill. I attacked. The gamble to end all gambles. #DragonQuestI
I feel like it often gets glossed over, but GameChat is an incredibly underrated feature of the #Switch2 in my opinion. I don't use a video camera or microphone with it, but being able to screenshare with your friends is a great way to enable parallel play remotely.
I finally finished Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake last month, and this week I started DQ I & II HD-2D Remake. I'm really starting to fall in love with this series. @108.bsky.social put it best when he said "Dragon Quest is bedtime stories." It really is!

Played Bravely Default for the first time tonight, by way of the HD remaster on Switch 2, and I've got to say, it's fantastic! I should have played it ages ago.
Nintendo Switch 2 / Mario Kart World Target Ball Covers??

Another observation that I haven't seen much discussion about yet: it seems #Switch2 silently fixes performance problems and improves loading speed in Switch 1 games even without a patch. I've captured some comparison footage using #AtelierYumia, a game known for its awful performance on Switch.
One of Welcome Tour's demos presents the joycons as a set of Maracas, and you can change what's inside, between being filled with beads and having a rubber ball inside. HD Rumble 2 provides very precise haptic feedback to make it actually feel like those things are inside. It's bizarre.
It definitely should have been a pack-in game, but I don't regret spending ten bucks on it. It's fine.
I also gave #NintendoSwitch2WelcomeTour a try, and I came away feeling quite impressed with the mouse controls. The joycons work really, really well as mice. Also, HD Rumble 2 is quite an improvement over Switch 1. The minigames in Welcome Tour do a great job of showing off the system's features.
My initial feelings on #MarioKartWorld are much more mixed. It's got to be one of, if not the, best looking and sounding Mario Kart game yet. But, as someone who has played every Mario Kart game before it...I think the game initially feels very poor to play. Maybe I just need to get used to it.
My initial feelings on the Nintendo #Switch2 console are positive. The larger joycons feel much better in the hands, and I love how the Pro Controller's stick doesn't slam against the shell anymore. Downloads are much faster, and seeing TOTK at 60fps is almost surreal.

Ya girl represented! After answering questions about the likes of Panel de Pon, Mr. Resetti, Howard Phillips' declaration about Sega CD's Night Trap, and the Howard & Nester comics, I won and got to move to the front of the line! Tonight was a very fun night.
I figured I'd have a nice shot at it, so I came back for trivia. There were around 25 participants and the questions were wide-ranging, encompassing obscure Nintendo-related knowledge across its entire history (including a question about Hanafuda cards).
