Straight from The Ministry of the Future - except in that book they pumped water to the surface of the South Pole.

Nam 20 minuten.
Check voor uzelf op www.vtest.be 🔌💡

Seemed appropriate to have an old school map of Europe in my new office at the Council of European Energy Regulators

Absolute insanity
Offer and demand, and grid congestion leading to negative prices. This time for gas in Texas.

These action plans are like a time loop. IEA had a similar action plan agains the gas crisis in 2022. The EU Commission already put out a toolbox in October 2021.

Indeed, and also not at quite the same gas price levels.
True. That's the third big factor.
Unavailability of nuclear was - obviously second to the gas price shock - a major cause of the 2022 electricity price crisis.
After the Russian large scale invasion of Ukraine, EU leaders introduced windfall profit taxes on fossil fuel producers.

It costs just $33/MWh to transform daytime solar into dispatchable solar
Huge since true.
"It costs just $33/MWh to transform daytime solar into dispatchable solar"
And no, that doesn't yet account for that storied Dunkelflaute. Then again, the typical gas LCOE doesn't account for Putin's whims or other geopolitical vagaries.
NOX only does heat pumps, right? Not EV chargers
I think it's the 8000 HH analysed. Not entirely clear indeed
Interesting results reported by Laborelec from demand response mobilised by Engie in its Flextime product with "super offpeak hours": 15% demand shift representing 8,5 GWh.

Meanwhile, in Belgium #2
Government decided on tax shift electricity (-11,4c€/kWh) to fossil gas (+ 4,38c€/kWh) and heating oil.
Combined with ETS2 and Flemish region tax shift, this supports electrification towards 2030.

NEW report out today: I dig deep into how big tech has been muddling tech types and overstating evidence to claim "AI" will make global emissions drop like a stone....
Not only will it not, it seems to be verifiably doing the opposite!!

Alarming to see a step backwards in Spain, of all countries.
