This sounds what happened to Deutsche Bahn. You could set your watch to the train arrivals, then they optimized for efficiency and created something that the article calls brittle. It is still a mess.

Not sure it works as well as authors hope. I bought one of your books because we read your long running week in Tory series, so you provided value up front. I never felt like buying a book because an author plugs it in a post.
