Happy rainy tuesday from a quiet electric Gillig βοΈππ
The noise of the wheels splashing through the water is the loudest thing on the bus!

Okay CTA. This is a good sign.
My police department is two weeks away from obtaining a nuclear bomb
I've been fighting ad companies since I was a teenager - thankfully, with the support of my parents, who shared my revulsion towards creepy ad tech and encouraged my Linux experimentation.
By contrast, if I believed in demons, the parents described in this article would be among them.
Hey, that's fleet service's job anyway!
I do most of my shopping this way and love how easy it is to lift my panniers off the bike and throw them on the bottom rack of a shopping cart!
When I bag my groceries they're ready to click right onto my bike, parked conveniently outside the door - no annoying walk to rerun the cart.
My e-bike is excellent as a car replacement for everyday trips!
I used it to go to the library today, print a form, and ride to the post office to mail it in - faster than I could have driven, between the traffic lights and finding parking.
Yes! And vending machine food isn't good for you either!
It takes about 20 mins in practice, but it's still ridiculous.
"Excuse me, I did NOT mean to gender that person that way, I don't care what their gender field says in Active Directory, stop listening to databases and gender people correctly"
"Will you commit to getting compensation for Mr. Makinson in your first month in office?"
Shows someone's dedication to their constituents.
Story here - he is a heroic transit rider who saved the operator and fellow pax from a worse crash:

A "Fuck ICE" sticker on a divider panel on a Metro bus
Did you know that under Metro's guidelines, this wouldn't meet criteria for removal?
Metro's policy is to remove *hateful* graffiti - this is the opposite.
I would never suggest putting swear words on a bus, of course. But I can't argue with the messaging :D
It's actually striking how quickly things have shifted. A year ago, it looked like the changes being considered today (phase 2) were going to be As Good As It Gets when it comes to breaking out of the 1990s urban village model. Now it's the new baseline.
Elections matter.
Indeed - depends if outlook working is subjectively good or bad :D
Wow, this rocks!!!
What an incredible thing for our city. Lake Washington is a beautiful place to walk & roll, and now we can enjoy it without worrying about being run over by speeding drivers πππ
Elections matter - this would never have happened under the last administration.
Good morning, Seattle!
I have two outlooks, and neither of them are working π
Good to see!
a graph of seattle link light rail ridership
Ridership on Seattle's Link Light Rail continues rising amid the system's many expansions, helping Seattle have the strongest ridership growth of any major metro area!
Link ridership is up 20% in early 2026βbefore even accounting for the connection of its 2 lines in March!

Wonder what failed π€
The 6400s have been a bit buggy and subjected to austere conditions. I hope the coach gets fixed in short order!
The RapidRide G Line will soon have four separate grocery stores along its >2mi route!
What a well-stocked bus!

It's always interesting to hear such feedback.
What we, as advocates, view as an asset (many lines), others may view as confusion.
High capacity rapid transit has the potential to truly terraform a region through transit oriented development, if planned appropriately.
1) The number of destinations accessible along the "spine"
2) The lack of fare gates and the implicit trust in such a design
Just had an interesting exchange on the train with someone who moved to Seattle from Vancouver BC.
She described Seattle's light rail system as more intuitive and accessible than Vancouver's, citing:
Ain't nowhere like it
Thoughtful and insightful analysis by @shirleyswirley.bsky.social as always. There have been attempts to find common policy ground, but they inevitably run into this issue.

Artemis can be a symbol for military power, or it can be a symbol for our ability to do anything we set our minds to. Choose the latter, and don't let our government forget it. If we can go to the moon, we can do anything.
