When our city enacted a ban on playing street hockey, I think the perspective shifted completely. Now streets are perceived as car only spaces. In neighborhoods that wasn’t the case when I was a child. It was common for people to be in the street. Mostly playing.

Sadly the current right-wing coalition government in Finland has foolishly cut the funding for the nation’s “Housing First” success story, and homelessness is predictably now on the rise again. That just reinforces the fact that such programs work, if lazy political ideology doesn’t get in the way.

I think it is an excellent book, enjoyed it thoroughly. It was timely as it went on sale prior to 2024 U.S. election.
