Maybe it’s because I’m bad at side-scroller shooters but it’s somehow even more stressful than TL1’s mini game!?

Getting two Miis to propose in Tomodachi Life is genuinely stressful.
Go Lucy!!
There’s so many impressive Miis people have designed!
It really is a shame you can’t download Miis like the first Tomodachi Life could.
Don Draper in MAD MEN
Tony Soprano in THE SOPRANOS
crazy how two beloved, iconic shows came along in the first two decades of the 2000s to dissect the myth of american masculinity and expose it hollowness and literally the exact second they ended, the whole country doubled down on the american masculinity myth and set the world on fire.
BIG SIPPY
Same happened in DuckTales fandom too.
“Della would hate you for shipping Delpad!”
Is that so? Then tell the cartoon duck to meet me at Disney World and she can personally fight me herself.
“Katara would hate you for shipping Zutara.”
Katara is a fictional character who only exists because a group of writers & Nick execs crafted her into existence. I am not denying her agency because she has none to begin with! She is a Nicktoon!
I will always think the funniest ship war argument is “Character A would HATE you for shipping Character A x C instead of Character A x B.”
Well. You see. Character A is not real. I don’t really care.
Right! Like, if you have to diminish two characters’ interactions solely to make another relationship stand taller, it’s always a red flag for me. They’re not even allowed to be friends anymore? C’mon now!
There’s no baby Miis in the new Tomodachi Life!? What a bummer!
Bluesky WORLDWIDE DAY OF PLAY WE'RE OUTSIDE PLAYING AND YOU SHOULD BE, TOO!
“But we can’t show them getting along and being friends! What if people think they’re dating?”
Oh no!!! People in fandom will enjoy characters interacting in your feature film! What will we do!?
Dang, Zuko & Katara don’t even interact in the upcoming film? Typical. 😒
Don’t I know it. I’m glad that Booktok managed to revive romance novels but I feel like it’s making the publishing industry even more toxic and cutthroat than it already was. 🫠
We’ve all been spoiled by streaming and the immediate attention-grabbing nature of social media. Something is going to have to change in people’s media habits, otherwise we’ll have to subscribe to Patreons & Kickstarters.
More production houses are moving overseas due to their governments’ offering funding but even that is meager. I don’t think any of this is sustainable unless people want their main form of entertainment turn into YouTube videos.
I know one of the major pieces of advice given to aspiring animators is “become an influencer” (more or less) but I do not think this is sustainable. For creatives or art, really.
It’s something I’ve been thinking about as I look at how entitled animation fans treat indie studios because for not making enough episodes/not writing what they want/not making shows fast enough - all while major studios are shrinking.
One of the reasons that AI is climbing in popularity is that people want content (movies, pictures, songs, etc) *all the time*, *quickly*, and *free.* They also want it to be high-quality which is impossible - but a robot can be trained.
And it’s not just streaming, I know. The economy falling apart & a heinous FCC chair are also helping destroy animation (which is why I wish more entertainment unions took the threat of Trump returning seriously).
I know everyone is talking about the success of indie animation and that is awesome to see. I hope that part of the industry continues to grow! It’s exciting!
But I do think we need to acknowledge that the streaming bubble bursting is causing major entertainment companies to sink.
Iger buying FOX Entertainment truly seems foolish in hindsight.
Disney is getting slashed across the board left & right. They must have been seriously hurting for money for a while now.

Happy 20 years of Neil banging out the tunes 🐀🎶🎉
Glitch -- Gooseworx especially -- being able to release the finale of Digital Circus in theaters is one of the coolest, most profound things in indie animation currently.
And some of y'all really have found a way to be personally offended over it.
Smiling Friends paying homage to one of their fans in such a sweet way is adorable.
