ABC disregarded reams of formal public feedback received by the City in their Budget Survey.

It's cynical and unserious. And it's insulting to residents and to the staff who put untold hours into analyzing and compiling the Survey results.

Ken Sim and ABC have got to go.

A weird tonal mix at this press conference.

Businesses had very harsh criticism of the province and called for an investigation of BC Housing, and Sim endorsed it while thanking the province.

The police chief vigorously argued the city is safer, but said there’s “a perception” that it isn’t.

This.

Shameful how @bcnewdemocrats.bsky.social Eby & Niki Sharma traffic in the same misinformation as Poilievre.

Don't fall for pols who refuse to require living wages or basic mental healthcare, yet spend millions harassing ppl over "disorder".

Being poor or ill isn't a crime.

New data shows the SPVM's use of tear gas increased 137% from 2023 to 2024 (from 41 times to 97 times), while the number of protests increased minimally (from 554 to 610). This confirms what people attending protests have been saying: the SPVM is totally out of control.

BC government faces legal challenge as national news media promote forced abstinence Two long-form articles in national news outlets are promoting the BC government's "secure care" policy the same week that the government faces a pivotal legal challenge on its expansive interpretation...

The @theglobeandmail.com article….quote[s] six business owners, four police officers and a homeowner, among others variously embedded in the city's power structures.” And 0 unhoused community members.
It is propaganda to support punitive policies.

Rushing mine approvals could lead to the next big mining disaster. New BC laws #Bill14 #Bill15 could weaken enviro oversight & threaten public safety. Prioritizing development must not come at the expense of necessary standards or community input. Our full reaction: wcel.org/media-releas... #bcpoli

Yeah...except it's you as the tenant actually forced to live in it.

The financial cost for the landlord is little compared to the health, safety, and quality of life impacts for tenants forced to live in exploitative and often illegal conditions.

Very glad to hear yours is the kind of landlord who actually fixes things after being informed of them!

For many of us, that's far from our experiences...thus the prism pleas of our friend. 😉

Vancouver Park Board issues restrictions on unhoused belongings Park Board rangers are at a Downtown Eastside park on Friday, enforcing a newly issued restriction that targets unhoused people's belongings.

People need belongings to survive: shelter, medical goods, clothing, food.

We’re suing the City of Vancouver because their cruel bylaws violate the right to life, liberty, and personal security.

These new restrictions are dehumanizing and discriminatory. vancouver.citynews.ca/2025/05/16/v...

"But through freedom of information requests Petrie learned that in 2024 WorkSafeBC adjudicated 20,264 claims that were made without an employer submitting a report of injury.

Not one of them led to an investigation of the employer’s failure."

Here’s Another Reason to Oppose the Government’s Bill 15 | The Tyee The NDP’s new law would let companies hired by proponents approve infrastructure projects.

@soniafurstenau.bsky.social: It’s not just the NDP government — and private industry — we’re being asked to trust.

This bill would also empower cabinet to give authority to industry hired professionals and sidestep existing government processes and oversight.

Major breaking trans news: The States of Washington, Minnesota, and Oregon have sued the Trump administration to block it from enforcing a national gender affirming care ban for those under 19 years of age.

This is the second major lawsuit over Trump's trans ban EO.

Docs to come.

What if the retaliatory tariffs are actually an example of what states should be doing for a different reason: sanctioning and partially isolating the US because it’s the most murderous state on the planet?
