hey everybody lets start a fandom for big joe turner
moving into the las cruces/el paso orbit has been disastrous on my ability to see touring bands. figured since el paso was such a big city away from other big cities id see more but doesnt seem like a lot of bands i know come out this way.
the american band x and the australian band x were both great...what are the odds?
i started getting into them in a big way after years of only sort of getting it. great band. great guitar work.
so far in my exploration of african guitar music it's orchestra baobab at number one and orchestre poly-rythmo de cotonou at number two.
is "hotter than july" anybodys favorite stevie wonder album?
the mastering isnt exceptional on "mono singles" but its tolerable and the track listing seems good so far.
also its pretty apparent nobody gives much of a shit about 60s stevie wonder. i get it but...
ive been looking into pre-classic period stevie wonder comps lately. id always stuck with the "looking back" triple LP but im listening to the digital era "mono singles" set and it might be a keeper. lots of fun tracks ive never heard before.
here's an important music thought: the new paranoid style album is great.
the experiment for the next month will be to post more of my annoying music thoughts here and less of them on discord
i promised id never let myself be peer pressured into listening to pop stars with disney backgrounds ever again, but i did i want to give some sabrina carpenter a go. a little fun and a little funny. at least she's self-deprecating. if she can mature as a songwriter and stay funny...maybe ill be in.
every fucking day im printing to pdf!
1996

A little something I picked up at an El Paso thrift store today. A decent, pleasant record ready for cocktail hour.

one of the great punk rock albums imo. every song is exhilarating, novel, and just sounds damn good.

A big one off the concert bucket list, and one of the most intense sensory experiences I've ever had.
in recent years ive been a lot less invested in record collecting and have been mostly immune to record store day. however, i need to grab that randy newman demos LP at black friday rsd.
