Can #AI detect #type2diabetes from your #voice?🎙️
Scientists at @lih-luxembourg.bsky.social are developing a non-invasive screening tool that analyses vocal patterns to identify diabetes-related changes.

🌟 Congratulations to two amazing members from the Deep Digital Phenotyping Lab at the Luxembourg Institute of Health: Dulce Canha , brilliant PhD student working on T1D and distress in the e-cohorte SFDT1 study, and Gloria Aguayo, our senior scientist, for leading this clinically-relevant work!
🔑 But here’s the key takeaway: Even the best diabetes technology can’t take away the burden of diabetes entirely. While AIDs are a step forward, they don’t erase the daily challenges of living with or caring for someone with diabetes.
💡 Here’s What We Found:
- For adults, AIDs brought a small but real drop in diabetes distress.
- Caregivers saw moderate relief, with the greatest benefits for parents of younger kids.
- Kids & teens showed no significant change, reminding us how much stress still rests on families.
Our latest study in Diabetic Medicine 📖 assessed how an automated insulin delivery system (AID) initiation impacts dîabetes distress for people living with it and their caregivers.
🚨 New Publication Alert! 🚨
Living with type 1 diabetes #T1D is a 24/7 challenge that takes a toll—not just on the body, but on emotional well-being too. However, some still think that the new diabetes technologies are the solution to everything. The situation is way more complex.
🍫Important fun fact before #Xmas: Type 2 diabetes risk reduction with increased dark chocolate consumption vs. Milk chocolate associated with weight gain

Next step in this collaboration: developing an #AI based detection system of eating disorders for clinical practice to better identify at risk individuals and offer proper care.
2) insulin omission is what actually matters the most when it comes to glycemic control (assessed with Hba1c and CGM), more than eating disorders per se
3) #diabetesdistress is frequently co-occuring with eating disorders in T1D
He updated the team with the main findings and he showed that:
1) eating disorders are more frequent in people with type 1 diabetes than the general population
Patrick is a professor in #nutrition in Toulouse France and a visiting scientist in our lab.
He develops a research project on type 1 diabetes #T1D and eating disorders using the SFDT1 cohort data, in collaboration with our very own Dr Gloria Aguayo.
