This isn't even a hot take, just straight up gospel truth. Nocenti is the unbeatable Daredevil writer.

One of the gentler annoyances about trying to endure kidney stone pain is that because of massive constant hydration, I'm visiting the restroom like every 10-15 minutes. Really flushing my system here.

I always forget just how tired one can get off peeing.

Still... better than the alternative.

Hell yes, libraries!

But if you HAVE to diminish comics by converting them to another medium, at least a) do it with puppets (like This Magnificent Cake) or animate with as much care as Scavengers Reign.

Not a single one! Leave comics alone! 😭 Let comics be the pinnacle of visual storytelling that they are!

Oh yeah, the brute injustice of the entire world makes Myne's progression through it and attempt to change it pretty interesting. Everyone is so antagonistic to basic human rights that when she wins anyone over to anything resembling egalitarian principles, it feels like an earned victory.

Parenting tip:

Raise yourself children for whom receiving a brick of manga from a beloved non-popular series will be maybe one of the best gifts they can imagine receiving.

These will be children you'll love to spend time with for they are whole people with expressive interiority.

Screenshot of Arslan 8, selling for $50 on eBay. The book photo is taken in weak lighting (my kind of photographer), probably against something elegant like someone's bedspread.

For my daughter's 17th birthday, I've collected basically all the Heroic Legend Of Arslan volumes except vol 8. The lowest I've seen it go is 50 bucks and I'm still gunshy on paying that for a single volume.

I still have a couple months to hope for something more reasonable!

That looks so cool Marguerite. I'd seen it before (like a decade ago?) and it looked so cool then, but it's good to see it again because it still looks so cool.

oh no is right. it was not my worst episode, but it was still agony. I believe they've passed into my bladder now so I can breathe again.

I wish your veto had jurisdiction. I'm sure houses all down the street could hear my snarls and howls.

Fortunately, unless there's some bonus stones still looking to book passage, they've made it into my bladder and the agony is passed.

The 8yo reading Boxcar Children to me while wearing the death mask he made in school today. I can't understand a word he's saying through the mask but I'm not remotely going to ask him to take it off.

Wrote my high school thesis on the impact and lasting importance of the Monkees. Including a list of topics people were surprised their songs covered.

Drove by the art supply stores and stopped at the first one that didn't have a petition table out front. I got pencils.

Someone emailed a friend: "I was excited about the class but it is the first night of Passover so I can’t make it. If you do it again I’d love to come."

Google AI suggested this response: "Bummer about Passover! We will definitely do it again."

BUMMER ABOUT PASSOVER + exclamation point!

Mission accomplished. My friends now know my disdain for AI well enough that they randomly send me their negative thoughts on AI stuff they see.

That is a wild cover. There's not a single character in the book that I pictured to look anything like that guy.
