The image shows a high-vantage point view looking down on the seated crowd on the left, and Paulus Schoutsen stood on stage. The image shows a blue-purple theme.
Members of the audience are raising their hand, with Paulus, in response to the question "Who wants to hear what's coming up next for the Open Home Foundation".

The Artemis II mission reminds me of these 1960s photos of NASA astronauts training in Iceland because they felt the terrain would be similar to what they'd encounter on the moon. The outfits are so great, even some 60 years later.

Using Claude Code to write Home Assistant integrations – Style over Substance I used Claude Code to write custom Home Assistant integrations that did not yet exist, and solved my own problems.

I’ve been playing around with Claude Code to create and improve some custom integrations for my smart home, and I was surprised by how well it works!

Even managed to get my Tuneshine working by just feeding Claude the API spec. A quick blog:

You asked and we listened! For years, the community has been asking for a new design in Home Assistant. Something modern and timeless, something to match the power of the platform.
We’re pleased to announce that an improved UI trial is now available. 👇

I dove back into analog photography a few years back and it was such a nostalgic hit to pop open a film canister for the first time again! You can still get that feeling if you want it… just not for the prices you remember from those days 😅

"As seen on Wikipedia socks" Photo: a handknit sock in lightweight cream colored yarn with a variety of vertical cables

Ravelry description: From December of 2010 to the time of writing, the key photo on the Wikipedia ‘sock’ page has been a hand knitted sock. If you’ve ever looked at that picture and thought, “I wish I had those socks!”, then this is the pattern for you! This is a cuff down traveling stitch cable sock pattern, with a standard heel flap construction and charted design. The pattern includes instructions for four sizes, both with and without calf shaping. The sock shown on Wikipedia is the medium size with no calf shaping.

I’m actually so stuck on Andrej excitedly sharing this seemingly-impressive use of AI, which actually recapitulates tons of existing work to create new and exciting security issues. Any human engineer would have been like, idk dude just use Home Assistant

It is surprising to me that none of the major platforms have actual _parental control_ features so that we can limit the amount of time that our parents can spend online, and which apps they’re allowed to use. I don’t worry about my teenager’s use of the internet at all, just my octogenarian dad’s.

You don’t even need actual docks, just local government with balls to force the companies to behave. In my city, you can only park in a designated approved parking area - if you try to end the ride anywhere else, it will refuse, and if you still do it you will get charged for dumping it.

An Open Letter to the Soft Millennial Man Now Facing Extinction Dear Soft Millennial Man, You’ve been quiet lately, but we know you’re still out there. You’re probably hiding out at Whole Foods until this whole ...

"Keep standing in line for cronuts, listening to Mumford & Sons, and watching videos of men unboxing sneakers. We know we complained about these things in the past, but we’ve come to realize that you, the man who brews beer in our closet, are the most evolved of your species."

After reading it I was so dissappointed that the script behind the novella didnt make it to an actual episode. It would’ve been a mindfuck to watch, even for the Orville’s standards.
