This - every time I would coordinate a street closure I made sure we had sign that said "Street Open for People"

During the draft, Pittsburgh Youth will be punished way more harshly and permanently than anyone so far from
the epstein files.

there is literally one proven policy to reduce traffic congestion long-term.

it’s congestion pricing. and Trump just spent a whole year trying to illegally scrap it in New York City

They are talking like traffic engineers haven't been trying - and failing - to fix traffic congestion for the last 70+ years

It's the wrong question to ask

And a good part of the reason we're in the mess that we're in

@urbantruth.bsky.social I had a conversation about making the street closure in front of my kid’s school and almost everyone I talked was supportive except one individual basically said this verbatim. #urbantruth

This is sick and twisted from anyone, much less the president of the United States.

Trump’s genocidal language and indiscriminate warfare cannot be normalized or accepted. He should be removed from office.

50 Reasons Why Everyone Should Want More Walkable Streets From making you live longer to making cities more resilient: If you want a reason to make your city more walkable, it's in here.

“Someone with a 1-hr car commute needs to earn 40% more to be as happy as someone with a short walk to work. On the other hand, if someone shifts from a long commute to a walk, their happiness increases as much as if they’d fallen in love.” #UrbanTruth in @fastcompany.com

The sentiment of this comic came to my mind when I read this article from today's Star Tribune: www.startribune.com/republicans-...

Frustrating to see Republicans balk at the cost of transit projects even as we pay far more to widen I-494 and replace the Blatnik Bridge by Duluth.

This is an actual post. This is not funny. This is beyond desperate. This is a deeply unwell man who doesn’t belong anywhere near the levers of power. Every member of his cabinet and Congress is complicit in not demanding his removal now.

They join a motorcycle, a Scoobi scooter, three bicycles and a good pair of walking shoes as his primary modes of transportation. For longer distances, he takes public transit. On some occasions, he drives a 2011 Nissan Versa.

This is the correct response. When this president is dead, a lot of people need to be held to account. This man has to be stopped, and they all know how deranged he is, and they are profiting off of it.

Truth: reallocated road space for bus and bike lanes fixes traffic, and makes all modes of travel faster and safer (yes, including driving). Lie: Bike lanes cause congestion (I hear this way too often...)

Truth: new housing doesn't create traffic, driving creates traffic. Lie: buses are wasteful because they're empty sometimes.

Truth: Cars create bad urban space.

Lie: Cars are necessary for disabled people.

In my work with cities around the world, I find that a BIG difference between cities doing remarkable things, and cities that are floundering and failing, is having a culture of energy or a culture of excuse.

Either of those cultures are chosen, and built. Either can be deliberately changed.

My politics are: You shouldn’t need to become a 10-day Jeopardy! champion in order to have a quality home near frequent transit.

Allegheny County Safety Action Plan Allegheny County Safety Action Plan

Let’s turn lemons into civic engagement lemonade.

As @pgh-dude.bsky.social points out, a draft of the Allegheny County Safety Action Plan is open for public comment through April 10.

If you live here and care about pedestrian safety, I encourage you to take a look and provide your feedback.

Using what appears to be the Waterfront area for these ‘safety’ recommendations is really something. One of the most hostile post-ADA developments towards people walking or getting outside of a vehicle.

Jim Thome was a house favorite for us. We were not supremely invested baseball fans in NW Pennsylvania, but if we had to pick a team, it would have been the Phillies. For a live baseball game, it was a trip to Cleveland or Pittsburgh for us. Saw a Thome bomb vs the Cubs in the late 90s.

Happy birthday to the Washington Metro, which opened 50 years ago today with service on 4.6 mi of Red Line between Rhode Is. Ave & Farragut N. System now serves 130 mi.

The DC Metro shows that, with good planning & enough investment, the public sector can succeed & build something extraordinary.
