Yes! Meat thermometer is essential - there's no other *effective* way for a home cook to ensure meat is neither under- nor over-cooked.

Sous vide or Reverse Sear to 140Β°F / 60Β°C, then searing quick in a pan or grill are both great methods to keep it tender and juicy.

2025: The Pictures of the Year From the thousands of images made by our photographers all around the world this year, we present the ones that moved and inspired us most.

Seems like you're right.

I looked through the past two years and didn't see this photo anywhere. Bees *are* in 2025's, but CERTAINLY not this photo.

Hearing a call between the only two groups of humans who are not within Earth's atmosphere right now is unbelievable

The heart and passion in the voices of the heroes onboard the Artemis II and the ISS is revitalizing.

Both can be true too.

But even if individual votes were not manipulated, the Electoral College and Gerrymandering are forms of legalized vote manipulation.

On the left, a shiny oblong glint blooms: Venus.

When real life looks more sci-fi than sci-fi.

(And yes, that shiny gleam on the left is Venus)

You mean - by showing them that they could actually win if they paid a technocrat to manipulate votes and steal an election.

When humanity collaborates, we accomplish incredible things.

Technology from every settled continent and most countries has been involved in this historic flight.

Now we're just minutes away from breaking the human distance record, surpassing Apollo 13's record.

Yep. You said it.

Corporations bury any evidence against them, and what little escapes is bribed into silence through paid-off-and-NDA'd legislators, courts, and victims.

Everywhere society turns, we find a mountain.

Arguing about "which is worse and by what degree" misses the entire point.

It's like arguing - which is more enjoyable: death by poisoning or death by blood loss?

You won't convince people that either option is enjoyable. BOTH are harmful and BOTH need to be addressed. We can do two things at once

Christopher Columbus. European Colonization. Small Pox Blankets. The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. The KKK.

You're absolutely right - USAmerican culture's entire Origin Story and Development are defined by unimaginably grotesque violence.

New Hubble Space Telescope observations reveal 25 years of the Crab Nebula's supernova expansion

By tracking its expansion over a 25-year period and comparing old data with a fresh image, astronomers have been able to measure the relentless growth of the supernova's aftermath.

Ah yes, so they're an imminent threat in the same way that I'm an imminent intergalactic traveler - "in that, should [I] have the capability, [I] would use it."

When the wealthy have access to expertise without experts (having access to labor without laborers), we lose the ability to withhold labor to push for societal change.

It still blows my mind that we can casually gaze upon another planet's sunsets and sunrises through screens small enough to fit in our hands.

The essence of a planet in a bite-size delivery.

The Deepest View Ever Obtained of Centaurus A (NGC 5128)
New improved version with 10 hours of H-Alpha, Sep 2019
In 2013 I gathered 120 hours of data on Centaurus A, and processed the deepest image ever obtained of this magnificent galaxy showing many features and structures not revealed by amateurs before.
In Feb 2014 I released an improved version of the image with higher resolution, processed using PixInsight.
Then in 2018 I again acquired further data (for what is evidently a never-ending project…), this time in the H-Alpha wavelength. This new re-processed image incorporates the H-Alpha data in order to highlight the impressive emission structures triggered by the relativistic jet from the supermassive central black hole. It also emphasises the many pink hydrogen clouds in the dark dust lane across the centre of the galaxy, and lastly I feel the image showcases the concentric shells and rich background slightly better, while keeping a reasonably subtle natural look.

About the Image
This image is the realisation of a long time dream of mine: Taking a deep sky image with more than 100 hours of exposure.
I set out on this mission in early 2013 and after having gathered 130 hours of data on 46 different nights in 2013 and 2018 I present what I believe is the deepest view ever obtained of Centaurus A. This is likely also the deepest image ever taken with amateur equipment, showing stars as faint as magnitude 25.45.
I spent around 40 hours and analysing processing the data...
