@profbrucehood.bsky.social Yes, by now 3-minute theses have become a worldwide phenomenon & a wonderful, more factual alternative to TED Talks.
They're also fantastic examples of persuasive yet (epistemologically) responsible language use. Well worth studying their rhetorical moves & phrasing.

Great new initiative by my Bristol colleague @profbrucehood.bsky.social : Introducing www.my-thesis.org -- a free new platform designed to make real academic research talks easier to discover. 1/n
Hi Helen,
There are alot of women doing computer science. We just need a way to find them. May this will help www.my-thesis.org. I've been meaning to contact you for your help to promote it.
@mjcrockett.bsky.social hi Molly - don’t know if you saw my launch of my-thesis.org but it is an attempt to promote authentic human communication. Let me know your thoughts
The internet is filling with AI-generated content. So I built something different.
www.my-thesis.org indexes real researchers explaining their work in short talks—searchable by topic, institution, and keywords.
Human knowledge. Direct from the source.

I can see the similarities of essentialism with universal grammar with a couple of noted differences. While grammar rules may be universal and implicit, they are not by their nature (as I understand) primarily designed to segregate categories with pegorative consequences.
Disappointed that every time I open BBC iPlayer, “Uncanny” is promoted on the home page. I know people love to believe in the supernatural but give it a break
No. 8 in the nonfiction charts at Heathrow- always thrilled
Steady level of contentment's better than spikes of extreme happiness - says the video. Also, pursue goals than align with your core values, help others and practise empathy = #NAFO

Happy Saturday!
Just listened to a talk about vaping by Dr Jasmine Khouja where apparently “monkey jizz” is a real flavour! How would anyone know?
Also the word 'happiness' despite its definitional failings captures the general positive motivation that most people understand. Positive mood and eudaimonia are awkward terms that most are unfamiliar with
I don't know if Danny curtailed his research for the reasons you suggest (this qoute comes from his TED talk where he narrows down the issue to episodic memory) but it is true that the word happiness means different things to different people. These experiences are nonetheless central to humans
Only if you equate happiness with pursuing personal gratification- it’s note a waste of time if you enrich the lives of others which leads to
more authentic & sustainable happiness

Storm Darragh disrupted my appearance at the New Scientist event last Saturday but my green screen lecture set-up made it seem that I was there in person (from the right angel)!
