On an ideological level, while he was not necessarily the best-read communist, Omarov was keenly aware of the nature of power. To Bhavani, Omarov was not just a hero. He was a template, for forms of power she needed to command.

A new volume of hit lesbian webnovella EMPTINESS EFFIGIED! Check out a new chapter of Mona Alexandri's adventures as a struggling detective in Novograd! Read it right now or else!!!
NOW FEATURING: a new beautiful client, cigarettes being put out on women, and yuri aplenty!
emptinesseffigied.com
“Are you a homosexual, Barbara Ivanovna?” Mona asked suddenly. Yegorova grunted. “That’s none of your business, detective!” “Well, I’m a homosexual.” Mona said. Yegorova blinked at her. “Klara, I understand your fears. You knew there could be social consequences for your feelings and you were unsure if your affection would be returned. That is the kind of world we live in. A man has the power to assume a woman might love him– but two women have to feel in the dark for love and might never know if they even found it. But what you felt was not something aberrant. You felt love for another person, and a desire to receive her love in return. None of that was perverted, evil or obscene.”
Salvator took a long drag of the cigarette, close to spent. She stared out of the balcony. “Whenever I look around at all the people I’ve known, and the people who have come and gone, the people I’ve lost, the people who love me and hate me– I realize there aren’t that many of us in Novograd. Whatever people want to call us– fairies, queens, transvestites, sodomites. Not actually that many. It feels like a massive world when it’s your world; but its like a snow-globe scene compared to the rest. It felt nice to see you there, detective. Living your own life with your assistant in the venerable Main Street. A new corner where our existence is challenging the world.” Mona looked out at the city in the same direction as Salvator. Trying to see what she saw.
happy lesbian visibility week!!! is there any better time to read some novellas about a butch detective and her femme assistant being visibly lesbian in a world that's opposed to them? you should read Emptiness Effigied!!! i think it's an incredibly moving and special story. i love it so much.
Late night doodles!
your choice of one villain from UD comes back for EE, who are they and what is your wishlist of crimes for them to commit? bonus: one character of your choice from another setting that has a villains wiki list of crimes comes to EE, can mona bring them to justice for their listed crimes? incredibly good question thank you. UD villain in EE: aatto feels like an easy answer, just put her in the gendarmerie and have her be oppositional to mona and then defeated and wrapped around her finger. However, easy and fun as that could be, my answer is: emilia skonieczny. another (more successful) detective in novograd (maybe hired by eris lol?) who acts as someone kinda yoinking clients from mona and also generally just being a thorn in her side by dealing with issues that arise through less than respectable detective means. turn her being a fascist mirror of murati into her being a fascist mirror of mona. another villain: BB from Fate/extra CCC. A pretty short crimes list (reality distortion, brainwashing, torture, extortion) BUT it is a list of crimes mona should be able to get a handle on- she deals with reality warping as a standard side effect of dealing with anomalies, brainwashing can be dealt with, extortion is a Normal Detective wheelhouse, and mona's arm has been ripped off before- she's durable. and i think BB as a villain of a novella that ends up being kinda crazy into mona and talking to her over the radio throughout would be: UNBELIEVABLE CUTE!
VILLAIN QUESTION! (this one was fun :>)

“Good job taking care of those Divers by yourself. I have full confidence in you.” “It’s nothing. Could’ve gone better even.” “Do you have damage?” “No. I just mean– it’s not worthy of praise.” Before her squad leader could continue flattering her Shalikova charged ahead.
she's so funny. something up with her head (she is Mentally Ill).
this is a sonya shalikova special. exactly the sort of woman in unjust depths to volunteer out of the kindness of her heart and make literally no errors or missteps and still end up apologizing and feeling worse at the end of it. because she has a kind heart.
sonya shalikova question :>

UNJUST DEPTHS. HEIDELINDE SAWYER. REASONING: ONE OF THE FEW NAZIS IN THE STORY WITHOUT SOME FORM OF PSYCHIC POWER OR A BODYGUARD. MISERABLE SACK OF SHIT. REMOVING THE THREAT TO GERTRUDE EVENTUALLY SOMEHOW SLEEPING WITH HER.

the gunner mask scenes hyped me up so bad but then there was NO follow through it was miserable. heather when her girlfriend says "you not paying attention to me makes me want to kill myself": okay! (doesnt change her behavior at all)
Elpida sat down on the infirmary bed. Her eyes lingered on Leuca for a moment, watching her breathe, roving over her many wounds. Leuca had sworn to Ooni that nothing had happened between her and Elpida, that they had not shared any intimacies; in fact, they'd resolved their differences with a fistfight. But Ooni saw the deep affection in Elpida's eyes as she looked upon Leuca. Like they'd fucked. Or nearly fucked. Or wanted to fuck. But Ooni's jealousy had turned into wet ash.
i am being so real about the cuck thing becoming interesting in necro. instead of arcs of "oughh cheating on my girlfriend" i think elpida being a protagonist that is so magnetic and so important to women around her she overwrites whatever other relationships they have is SO fun.
you did a list of webnovel recs a few days ago, and i was wondering what you thought of katalepsis since ive heard it mentioned a couple times Okay, so, I've talked about it a bit before, and I think it has its charm points and high points but. It kinda all falls apart over the course of the first book unfortunately. My biggest issue with it is that it is, before all of the supernatural horror and magic stuff, a romance novel. However- it's so fucking bad at being about romance. It's about a cringey bottom gradually accruing a polycule but the moment a new girl appears her other girlfriends just stop narratively mattering. Zheng is the most insane of these because she literally just runs off into the woods and only comes back for fight scenes after a certain point. I love Zheng! I would love if she mattered to Heather or the events going on at all! I feel the same way about Sevens, who is treated just as badly, has that acknowledged, and then it continues happening lol. The finale is insanely bad about this because it almost seemed like it realized what the problem was before falling back into all the same pitfalls in the most boring way. Just writing the women who are important out of scenes so Heather can Heather It Up with a brand new girl. Not good! Also it introduces a character as a pedophile (as a pederast, actually, which isn't the right word? weird.) and that reveal adds a lot of complexity to them needing her help and how she was weird about one of Heather's friends growing up. But then it's like just kidding! She wasn't actually a pedophile, she's totally normal and now she gets shunted into being in a side character love triangle that doesn't matter! And it just felt so strange to introduce something that loaded and heavy to deal with and then just... jk! Half a book later. It made me feel insane.
katalepsis question :]

Mona turned the pages and found Case 013. She smiled. What a travail this had been!
There had been too many close shaves, but that was life, wasn’t it? Everything was solved to her satisfaction, as solved as it could be. Another happy ending, as Tanya might have said.
