I've managed to catch 2 of them during this trip, but it's pretty sad seeing their era gone and only a fracture of them still holding up and being in active service even in the SKM of Tri-City, known as a retro heaven for this type. 😔

Gdynia Glówna, the main station.

Despite the known joke name, it is in fact a very, VERY decent train station with its historical building kept in pristine condition. And just like in Budapest it has got a McDonald's which feels absolutely otherworld-y.

Jastrzębia Góra, the northernmost point of Poland. There is no way further - only Scandinavia very far ahead beyond the sea.
Here, the local seafood was finally somehow found and eaten, despite the awkward one-sized language barrier.

Here I finally touched (and tasted) the Baltic sea, the 4th sea of my life.

Sopot, the third town of the Tri-City. There, you can go 550 meters away from the shore on the longest pier of Europe.

The Gdańsk shipyard and hella punk stuff. I didn't take a pic of the indoor foodcourt area, but it was an absolutely lovely place.

If we had some expectations for this city, we'd have left very disappointed because of overtourism, and because of how run-down it is away from tourist routes, like Prague on Baltic sea.
The shipyards and 100CZNIA foodcourt felt like a true respite and heaven of peace.

I chose Gdynia as our "base camp" for this trip because the Prague-caused sixth sense told me to avoid the tourist areas. It was a correct decision. We truly valued the fair simplicity, cleanness, calmness and cosiness of this city away of tourist crowds. And the port is absolutely lovely.

If one would sit down in the car, press the gas pedal and go from Brno all the way up to the North, 7 hours later the whole new world emerges.

Using our Easter vacation days, we did exactly that and ended up in Gdynia, Tri-City, the Baltic coast, the northern edge of the world we are used to.
