I think I have a particular hatred for Brave Books in particular because the art is kinda decent and nice in places but it is used for evil and that is something I just cannot forgive.

If you’ve never subjected yourself to the pages of Brave Books through a YouTube book commentary channel, you will quickly see just how egregious these kinds of “conservative kids books” are.
This one is literally a pro-gun book for kids. I’m not even joking.
That joke that conservatives can’t make good art is 100% founded in truth. Their art, their stories… they suck ass, it’s all propaganda slop and not the kind of books or tv shows kids would choose to engage with if they had the choice to engage with the alternative. This will make kids HATE books.
I just feel really bad for the kids whose only access to books will be through the damn PragerU program. Not only is it all propaganda, it’s like… BORING propaganda. Depressing selection of titles and none of them look/are interesting to read. Conservative slop for kids. 🫠
OKAY so I think imma just go to the store today and stock up on caffeine pills and energy drinks~ It might not be the best solution but I think it could be a solution!
If I could find an energy drink that tastes decent though, hm, that’s the real struggle I think.

Never played Tomadachi Life but seeing clips of Miis buying Malboros, handing the communist manifesto to babies and speaking out of a butthole on their face is making me think maybe I gotta check it out.
(And if I’m completely honest, it’s kind of fitting for SlumberTown especially because the main protag has SOCIAL ANXIETY, like… let’s think about this logically for a second, THEIR STRUGGLE IS BASED ON MINE!!! 🤣)
And yes I DO know those audiences are out there because there are many webcomics with active fanbases. I also don’t think those webcomics have some kind of secret sauce ours are lacking either. It’s literally just an inability to market or network efficiently in many cases I think.
I think we all also deserve lil fanbases for our comics that aren’t other creators too. Folks who are just enthusiastic readers and lovers of comics. I’ve got a couple dedicated readers but nothing close to an actual base, and I think that’s what’s it like for many of us CUZ WE CANT MARKET FOR SHEET
ALSO YES — I feel bad I haven’t checked out your work yet (and you’re not the only one, I have other comic moots in the same place) but it’s that same thing where we’re trying to make connections everywhere but also so busy that it takes a while to catch up on all the reading. 😳
I’m glad you think so! I usually tend to think the appeal is very niche, but I base that assumption on the general lack of reception (& me being neurodivergent lol — autistic, therefore kinda cringe).
But idk man I kinda feel like we’re entering a phase where autistic-coded stories have appeal. 🤷♂️

I see the way other people hyperfixate and theorize about stories that are very similar to the story I’ve built around my comic so it’s like I KNOW there’s a potential fanbase out there for ST, just having trouble finding it.
Yeah it’s kinda weird to have a small taste of what having fans/a fandom is like earlier in your work for it to just kinda drop off later. I feel the same way though about mostly connecting through art, and feeling disconnected when your work is very rarely talked about/commented on.
