Yesterday I attended The dedication ceremony for the monument to Washoe and her family.

For those familiar with Washoe, you will know that she is the first chimpanzee taught to use ASL as a baby and went on to teach her own child as well as her adopted chimp family at Central WA University

Oh wow. This sounds like a good read. I've been wanting to do an animal in 'sports' series but I'm not yet sure how to approach it. I should probably read this book first 😄

These beautiful little creatures washed up en masse last year. I hope this poor guy was just unlucky.

The trees of the redwoods. My God. We must care for all of this creation. The awe these trees inspire is fantastic. Talk about a forest bath. This was more of a forest spa treatment.

My daughter found two of these on her coat yesterday! She lovingly placed them back in the garden.

I did a double take when I saw this deciduous tree with cones! Turns out alder trees have both male and female structures but in different areas! The small cones are the female structure.
