Same! Love a cassette

Sounds a lot like a job for Mystery Hour, this @mrjamesob.bsky.social
Tapey Friday
The man is atrocious but it’s not a requirement to wear a cravat at 44. Of all the things to get upset about, really.
I ended up going cos I'm an IDIOT
I was thinking about maybe standing in the garden and just pressing my nose against the fence for two hours.
I’ll gladly admit things weren’t going great for him… but the way he was treated & what he’s been replaced still gets on my nerves.
One of the great things that came from Dai was really finding out who our friends were… and then we chucked them out & replaced them with Leam flippin’ Richardson.
I promise I’ll shut up about Noel one of these days, but at least I felt like their was a bond there. I could will him to do well. I just don’t feel anything about Leam; he’s just Generic Crap Manager. This was their first choice appointment that they’ve backed financially and it’s just been dire.
“Progress takes time.”
Sorry, but where was this attitude with Noel? You swapped someone who gave everything for the club during our darkest times for someone barely better (if at all)?
Now suddenly Couhig’s urging patience?
I’m not! Gonna find something less depressing to do
Noel also had to bed in a mostly new squad, whereas that hard graft had already been done for Leam.
But the decision *was* made and Leam is here, and plenty of managers (including Coppell!) go from being utterly mediocre to really rather good just through having the time and space to work.
If my calculations are correct, he’d only lost 1 in 8 (or 2 in 10 if you’d prefer) at his sacking so the foundation was there for coaching support and new signings to raise us up a level, which Leam benefited from whereas Noel didn’t.
I’m not saying Noel was *great* but was Leam really an upgrade?
Couldn't agree more. I'm not convinced getting rid of Noel really improved things in a meaningful way, and I'm not convinced removing Leam would help much either so we should give him the benefit of a proper pre-season and let him have another crack... but holy moly I'm not enjoying games at all.
Same! Well, that and the Dookie/Smash explosion.
Oh what wait… they only ever released Hate You??? Gutted 😭
Found it! Wish I still had a CD drive so I could check out the grainy surfing videos and stuff.
Oh THANKS. Now I have to listen to the Decline. Again.
I think it’s just riiiight before they hit their stride in terms of more pop sensibilities, so it’s still got just the right amount of an underground edge to it. Smash too, but less so.
Please come to the UK. Please. Please.
Wait a sec… Josh Freese and Brett Gurewitz were in Daredevils?? I need to check that band out more. I only know Hate You from the Bored Generation (enhanced!) CD of yesteryear (which I still have somewhere). Rad song, but never investigated beyond that.
Bloody love that album. Prefer Ignition, but bloody love Smash.
Good times.
I’ve played more games of Civ Rev than I’ve had hot dinners (I know it’s a bit rubbish; I just like the stripped back format) and my favourite kind of domination victory is usually just throttling your enemies with your overwhelming culture before strolling into their capital.
Congrats! Could still hear you all singing down by the tip 😂
Great finale to the game for the travelling fans too (less so for us, but it was a frustrating game all round on that measure)
Got my first season ticket in 2004 right at the start of Coppell’s tenure so I really lucked out! We had a great McDermott vs Coppell anniversary pre-season game a couple of years ago and Lita still looked like he could do a job (also scorer of my favourite Reading goal vs Palace). Good times.
…but ignore them… from one team that’s experienced the joy of greatly exceeding expectations to another (in fact, it’s “106 Day” tomorrow and there’s a load of special stuff planned for it), I’m sure you’ll get a hearty applause and plenty of respect from us.
Hard to do anything but applaud a team winning the league at a canter when they’ve done it properly (ie, not outspending the division by several factors).
You’re bound to get stick from the kids at the top of Club 1871 (they always do), especially as we’re clinging on to the playoffs by our nails
Looking forward to welcoming them to the Stade de Madejski tomorrow. As crass as Birmingham’s title was last year, this is glorious. I was at Leicester that day we reached the premier league for the first time and they couldn’t have been better hosts… I hope we’re as good to Lincoln for their day
As long as you keep the music safely imprisoned in its shrink wrap so it can’t get out 😂
DO IT.
I MIGHT DO IT.
On my way to the game now with such little faith it’s crazy. Every time we’ve had the chance to push into the top 6 we’ve fumbled it, and we only got in by accident the other week when Huddersfield conceded a late goal. We have talent, loads of it, but moments of magic are seasoning, not a strategy
