HAPPY #NúmenorDay!!! I thought nothing was more appropriate for today than an edit of the beauty of our beloved island that we miss so much 🥹
Lieutenant Valandil of the Sea Guard
A quick little edit for #NúmenorDay since we were robbed of seeing Valandil in the Sea Guard uniform in season 2 🥺
Who can participate?
Anyone who wants! Just keep it respectful, and preferably positive, as we have more than enough angst to go around in the Númenor fandom, and it is nice to have one day without sad-posting 🙏🏻
So prepare your Númenor posts and start counting down the days 🩵
How do we celebrate Númenor Day?
By posting about Númenor and using the #NúmenorDay so that others can find your tweets! It can be anything from edits to threads, to memes or edits, or even fanfics if you feel like it! Share your favourite moments or your speculations about s3!
On the 9th of April we are bringing #NúmenorDay to BlueSky! We started this tradition on twitter during the s1 hiatus, to mark the monthly anniversary of when we all sailed into Númenor for the first time on the 9th of September 2022 🩵

"At his feet, Kemen whimpered. A pathetic, small creature who might deserve to die. But not by Valandil’s hand. And not in this place.
The sword hit the black waters with a loud splash."

Apparently they cut a LOT of the Númenor plotline, so chances are they deleted the scenes that would have "given reason" to his death. And I'm not holding my breath on Isildur being told on screen either, we're lucky if we get a single mention of Valandil bc Ontamo wasn't brought up at all in s2 😕
Like what was the point of that? To prove to the audience that the Faithful are in the right and Pharazôn is in the wrong? Míriel didn't get her throne back, so you can so easily write out Valandil's death, Elendil's arrest and the Trials and it makes no difference in the overall story!
I think I would have been a bit more okay with it if they had actually mentioned him after his death, you know? But no, the only thing we got was Pharazôn saying Elendil's actions led to the loss of life, and then he was just gone. And the Trial by Abyss also felt a bit pointless, you know?
I've taken a step back this past month because I'm still heartbroken 💔 My grief still overshadows everything else and I am so deeply disappointed that they chose to kill off Valandil like that...
He's just so!!!!!
His character is the love interest, and every scene he's in he's giggling and smiling and flirting and I just -
I watch A Remarkable Place to Die for the plot

And the Disaster of the Gladden Fields 🥲
Haha yes, I know about the Akallabêth 😅
I never moved on from this 🥺🩵
Are we actually migrating here this time?
I miss him every day 😭💔
