I mean this is fundamentally different in that geese seems to have been an organically formed band that played algorithms to get attention vs pure a&r creations like the monkees or sex pistols

Thomas Hart Benton
“The Hailstorm” (1940)
Benton’s rolling, roiling work dynamically renders nature quaking in storm with a cloud-heavy sky.

In the foreground, a man rushes to the stone framed opening of a wooden storm shelter.
In the background, another man is in a field with plowed rows of dirt. He wrestles with a plow attached to a horse or donkey that looks ready to bolt.
A lightning bolt splits into two arcs from clouds pressing heavily, darkly from a sky ready to erupt with electricity and ice. Tree, farmers, donkey, dugout sway against the imminent oncoming storm.

From our intro to Raphael Maurice’s poetry:
“We were interested in his use of precision, the precision of the moment: ‘His eyes were broken, twisted, the way lightning is, against the open, dead skies of Gerald, Missouri.’”

three white men approaching middle age, obvious inveterate jesters, lie side-by-side in a partially opened fish tin. one man, with short cropped hair and mustard yellow collard shirt looks as if he has just told a joke. to his right, a man laughs heartily with his eyes closed. the third man is looking directly at you, the viewer, with an intent and intense look that gives you impression that you might have stumbled upon a private moment between friends. all of a sudden it is 1998 and you're doing the first verse of intergalactic with your 4th grade best friends, Spencer and Evan in the booth at the quiznos on 11th. youre 5 cups deep of a concoction you call suicide surge - one half the green caffeinated meme juice and then you put a shot of every soda that isnt brown in there with it. it was your last summer there, your last summer with that kind of freedom until youd get a car in five years - pretty much a lifetime.

"We conclude that nostalgia per se is neither pathological nor normative, but a consistent phenomenon in human existence that should not be overlooked in cultural assessment and psychotherapy" (Weiss & Dube, 2021)
