you should be intuitively suspicious of any subculture that tells you to cut yourself off from your core ties (family, friends, colleagues) with the subculture as an implicit or explicit replacement

This isn't due to anything specific, but I do want to say;

If you are telling artists or creatives to make weirder and more unmarketable art, it is in fact your obligation and duty at that point to promote/pass around/support those creatives when they *do* make that weirder art. Otherwise we can't!
