What was lost with the card catalogue (retired librarian here) was the serendipitous discovery of some completely new line of interest when you would flip past a card when searching for your specific title. Hmm - making medieval clothing has nothing to do with microscopy but that sounds like fun!

Try bringing an ice pack and ice down the injection site…. Seems to help some vaccine reactions.

Thank you. Wasn’t certain that freezing was after cooking or at the marinade stage. It looks so good and my cubes are empty…

How do you freeze the schwarma? And reheat?

I have lots of natives, but also lots of cultivars. I like showy plants and colour throughout the season, and many natives have small, nondescript flowers. Also many can get quite aggressive in a garden - I’m looking at you mayapple! It’s a balance.

A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

I have insomnia a lot lately so may as well share what’s literally keeping me up at night.

It’s a long list but tonight it’s flu. Yes, H5N1, but also seasonal flu. Firing federal scientists brings a flu-filled future.

Have you ever wondered how flu vaccine strains are chosen?

I didn’t think I would write a second series about the aftermath of the air accident near Washington, DC. But, well, it’s been quite a year this week.

No way Trump wrote that. His coms people are throwing in some capital letters and dog whistles to mimic his style.

Some thoughts on Wednesday-night’s tragic air accident near Washington, DC:

The mid-air collision of American Airlines flight 5342 and a US Army VH-60 helicopter is highly personal for me. It literally hits close to home as I live approximately three miles away from National Airport.

Oh Kevin - the goldfinches stay year round in Ottawa. Harder to spot with their dull plumage, and it’s fun to see them turn gold in the spring.
