Yup, the Sonic movies proved you could be faithful to the fans, give them what they wanted, but also tell a compelling, albeit simple, story.

No it's not Oscar-winning, but it's still a well-told tale worth watching.

The Mario movies seem to be "look!!! LOOK!!! IT'S THAT THING!!" *dangles keys*

You can still enjoy a bad movie, hell yes you can, but stop trying to argue that it shouldn't have a good story.

Flashy visuals and member berries can only carry so much

"Critics are so dumb, of COURSE the Mario movie doesn't have a good story, Mario was NEVER about the story"

My brother in Christ, the games get that pass because the core gameplay experience is so good.

A movie has no gameplay, it only has the story it's telling.
