Every day is caturday
Chicago Public Schools will be in session for a full day on May 1, but it will also be an official civic day of action during which hundreds of students will be able to take a “field trip” to a massive pro-labor, anti-President Donald Trump rally.
A photo of Jolene, a grey cat with black stripes. She's sitting on an orange throw rug looking directly at the camera. In front of her is a canvas bag that's white with green stripes, some that resemble asparagus.
Happy caturday to all who celebrate

We have to cut the handles off the bag so they don’t strangle themselves.
A buddy of mine chatted to one of them after the game. A fan having a 50th birthday bash in the bleachers, and friends flew in from all over the country to celebrate with her in hot dog costumes. Baseball is the best. @buckweaver.bsky.social @pulhitzherprize.bsky.social @slangsonsports.bsky.social

"Chicago police officer Carlos Baker sat in a stairwell for more than 90 seconds after shooting his partner Krystal Rivera last summer, leaving her bleeding from a gunshot he initially said had been fired by someone else."
Officials have released footage showing the fatal shooting of Krystal Rivera following months of work covering the case by Peter Nickeas, @ctoner.bsky.social and our friends in @cstguild.bsky.social. Another example of invaluable work made by our members.
FULL STORY: Just four months into the year, Chicago has spent more than $175.6 million to resolve approximately 200 lawsuits alleging Chicago police officers committed a wide range of misconduct, according to an analysis of city data by @wttw.bsky.social

I spotted 2003 VS 2026 outside a train station today and I'm really feeling a lot of things right now.
A photo of a door on the L in Chicago. There's graffiti on the bottom in white that reads "u can't eat money." In the window at the top of the door in black is graffiti that reads "nobody is illegal on stolen land."
Folks on the CTA are going hard today

Happening now in Cicero just outside Chicago—
A growing crowd is gathered at town hall this morning for a No Kings protest to many honks of support.
Big anti-ICE themes here today as this is a community that has been heavily targeted by the feds—including kidnappings in recent weeks.
Happening now: a small protest at O'Hare is marching through terminal 1 this evening outside Chicago.
ICE agents have been spotted inside the airport all week.
Folks chanting, "ICE out of O'Hare! ICE out of everywhere!"
Protestors have begun to march through the terminal, not approaching any security gate, chanting "ICE out of O'Hare, ICE out of everywhere!" and "ICE out now!"
Happening now at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport:
A small protest is underway against ICE agents being deployed to airports across the country, including at O'Hare.
For the moment press here outnumber protestors, but more people are slowly trickling in.
