If anyone else finds themselves struggling to troubleshoot very long boot times due to the load kernel modules job going on until timeout combined with Nvidia drivers not loading, the solution is to add early loading of the Nvidia drivers to mkinitcpio.conf

When you've spent 12 or so hours spread out over the course of two days trying to fix a very esoteric computer problem and then suddenly find the solution, it is of course very annoying to have wasted all that time but also _very_ satisfying to have fixed it.
Also a pretty impressive number of self-defense pacifist submarines, which of course would never do anything to hurt anyone.
Exclusive: Sweden has intelligence indicating Russia's systematically manipulating data to fool Ukraine’s western allies into believing its economy has withstood the strain of its war spending & western sanctions, Thomas Nilsson, head of Sweden Military Intelligence, told me & @maxseddon.bsky.social

Fun fact: the general consensus over here is that the Navy has the best food and the best of the best is served on ships (to keep crew morale up). I assumed that was fairly universal, but apparently not.
I've eaten some pretty nasty military food back in the day, but at least that stuff was in cans from the 1970s, so it was understandable. How this abomination came to be is more of a mystery to me though.
Vardagspoesi av den högre skolan, jag lyfter på hatten (dock ej bokstavligt talat).
Oh, this is a neat idea! I think I'll borrow this concept for one of my courses (w. a minor adaptation but still).
Tänk om man hade en bananbåt i miniatyr att förvara dem i, för att förhindra just det där? Jag tänker att det hade varit ett stilrent inslag i köket också, utöver att vara praktiskt.
The peak of social engineering here, some pretty remarkable achievements from that era. Too bad some of them, such as Vällingby, didn't age very well.
John Hurt as Caligula, with blonde curls
John Hurt is excellent as Caligula, just as I'd expect. Those blonde curls are a bit jarring on him though.
I already have Jeeves & Wooster on DVD, but thanks!
Also, I paid €3,50 in an online auction for a nice-looking box with all of the episodes and a printed family tree on it. Quality physical media can be really cheap.
A young Patrick Stewart in a legionnaire uniform
A young Patrick Stewart appears!
It's pure minimalism, like watching a stage play. No special effects nonsense, hardly even outdoors scenes. The actors and direction carry everything. And what a cast! Siân Phillips is truly magnificent as Livia.
I've been sick along with the rest of the family. Finally things have calmed down, but I still have some recovering to do. Good thing I bought a DVD box with all the episodes of I, Claudius (1976) a while back. It's absolutely magnificent, I love it.
It's for reading progress. I read in the Android client during the day and then I want to have my progress automatically updated to the e-reader when I pick it up at night.
As someone who uses that sync on a daily basis, it's annoying how often it fails (sync was rock solid on my Kindle). But that's one of few downsides, generally speaking I'm very happy I made the switch. I was also able to salvage pretty much all my previous purchases (it took some effort though).
I made the switch to Kobo from Kindle a year or so ago. The e-reader (Kobo Libra Color) is great, in many ways superior to the Kindle Paperwhite models I had before. The store is much superior (it's easy to buy in different languages, etc). Sync between Android client and e-reader is not great.
Seventeen Moments of Spring, sovjetisk spionserie från 70-talet som är bland det bästa jag sett. Hela finns på Youtube.

Here's a nice quote from Len Deighton's Berlin Game, one for the real CI heads. Ping @adam35.bsky.social @wylienewmark.bsky.social et al.
I hear scopolamine is neat, esp. if you want that old-school interrogation vibe as a bonus.
#Miami girl group #CompanyB’s 1987 single “Fascinated” fizzled in the UK stalling at #87, but in the USA it reached #1 on the Dance Chart & spent 8 weeks in the Top40 becoming one of the first #Freestyle records to break into the mainstream- it was a Starck fave

The real irony here is that even I don't have access to this one...
There are some potential hybrid warfare scenarios associated with this though. For example by contaminating food at an international conference, where certain drugs would probably have a far more severe impact on specific delegations. Not lethal, but possibly incapacitating.
This does not mean that they can be used as large-scale weapons, there would be no meaningful way of doing that as far as we can tell due to the inherent difficulties in achieving precise dosage (it would be easier to just use a general poison in that case).
We also checked Covid-19 by the way and it absolutely does not work as an ethnic bioweapon. However, something that has been overlooked in this context (but is well known in medicine) is that there is significant variation in terms of impact of common pharmaceutical drugs.
TL;DR: genetic bioweapons aren't really feasible due to the natural genetic variation in major populations. The only pathogens that have any significant variation between ethnic groups (i.e. some groups are more resistant than others) have extremely slow onset and are treatable.
