Rewriting the app has been therapeutic and a little frustrating. Getting there though. I had even settled on the wrong terminology which I’m rectifying now. Loads done but a fair way to go before I reach parity with the original build. Getting a little less annoyed with #SwiftUI each time too

So there’s a killer feature missing so testing the current version as the prototype and I’ve started again. It’s given me a chance to look at simplifying and streamlining a few things. About half way there with the layouts and navigation but a little way to go until it’s ready.
The season can’t end soon enough but we’ve got the World Cup in the way which is going to hurt pre season.
Players aren’t in the right positions. Play Ramsey and make the most of the other 10.
Play to Gravenberch’s strengths. Change the shape.
We shouldn’t be surviving, winning is everything.
Mac Allister, Gakpo, Konate and Gomez all done IMO. Thanks for the memories, goodbye.
Salah and Robertson going.
Slot went from moulding a Klopp team that made the most of their intensity and introduced control to… I couldn’t even tell you what they do now.
The hardest thing about supporting Liverpool right now is when my son asks me how the game was the morning after and he’s too young for me to just tell him that it was fucking shit.
Said goodbye to my Canon nifty fifty and replaced it with the newer STM model. Completely different thread size so meant buying yet more accessories for it. But got a good chunk of money back for the old one thankfully.
My spelling is atrocious 🤦♂️
Long expose of the late waterfall at Melincourt falls. The scene is rocky with lots of moss. The water looks smooth due to the long exposure
Melincourt Falls was weak with the visit. Not seen a proper waterfall up close for a long time and so easy to forget there are some just a drive away #photography
It’s called Waylist and it’s what Guides in Apple Maps should be. Written in #SwiftUI and using CloudKit for sorting SwiftData. Thinking about if also am have a couple of things to prototype but v1 is already way beyond what I this the app works be.
Wrapping up v1 of my new app, I have a trip I’ll be testing it on and need to get the App Store content sorted. I’m really excited because it can actually do so much more than I originally planned and the base functionality has exploded thanks to context menus. Works love to launch this month 🤞
Red Liverpool FC shirt from the 2020/21 season in an Ikea frame. You can see the liver bird motif and part of the sponsor in the shirt and a FIFA World Club Cup champions badge in gold on the shirt. There’s also a UEFA Champions League badge with 6 on it in the frame.
It’s taken me nearly 5 years but finally FIFA Club World Cup badge fixed onto my 2020/21 #lfc shirt. Framed and it looks amazing in my office!
Had the sleeve patch for Premier League champions added too but couldn’t position it well enough so placed the 6 times badge in the frame instead.
The Jetsons lied to us
SOLVED! Gemini took me down completely the wrong path in the first place as it 'helped' me build my first Share extension. Actually a simple fix that wouldn't have been needed had I just built stuck to the app itself... BUT it all hangs off of the extension so I guess we are where we are!
Had a quick look this morning and SwiftData is just a nightmare! Sometimes errors are so vague and useless. Even within views I get compilation errors for basic things I would expect it to point out to me!
Going to leave it all alone now and revisit when I’ve calmed down.
App submitted to Apple and available in TestFlight but it crashes every time! Definitely something to do with storage but not sure what.
Had actually just finished a round of improvements but now I feel defeated. Gonna sleep on it and will take another look tomorrow.
Short list of things to fix tomorrow and to begin building out a small gallery of destinations. Then to send it off to Test Flight and to start prepping the App Store page.
I’d be planning to post about the kits for the upcoming World Cup and now that Nike are unveiling theirs looks like next week is the time to do that for @1thingaweek.com
Spoiler: Adidas have knocked it out the park. Nike? 😬
🛠️ Name is set (battled with renaming)
📚 Core functionality done
💅 Liquid Glass icon done
🗺️ Map integrations done
Really excited to get this out!
Teaser for my new SwiftUI app: Personal travel itinerary.
It's got a specific purpose and I've already fleshed it out quite a bit more than expected. Almost ready for submission to TestFlight and thankfully have some trips I'm looking forward to that I can use as real world tests.
Really glad I stumbled upon this article on renaming properties in SwiftData by @twostraws.bsky.social just now. I know it just saved me at least 45 minutes of pulling my hear out!
It’s all I know but still so much to learn.
For simple structures it’s perfect. For more complicated ones it’s usable but it does make me pause often and then delays progress because a simple change can bring it all down 😭
Managing changes in SwiftData is a thankless task. Glad I’m doing it pre-launch but I’ve lost hours to a single decision today and spent a lot of time thinking I’d broken my app beyond repair. Thankfully recovered the situation and now ready to crack on.
This is going to be my first paid app but I will make it free at launch.
The latest app I’m working on was going to be called Terra Maps but it didn’t mean anything and ultimately it didn’t fit its purpose. I’ve now settled on a better name and renamed the whole project yesterday. A big fight with Xcode but I won!
Got it all working but now I’m questioning if I’ve just over complicated my idea. Will see what’s possible without an extension as an all in one app might be a better for the base of my app.
Having a nightmare with Share Extensions and #SwiftData only to find out the it wasn't failing to fetch the data... I was trying to render a list inside a list. Two days that's lost me fighting with Gemini and ChatGPT.
Now to see what I can unpick the monster I've hacked together.
Watched this evening and loved it. I know it’s all nostalgia driven, but it really makes me so happy seeing the band back together 🥰 @vdoozer.bsky.social
I’m so happy Scrubs is back and the first two episodes were perfect. The dilemma now is do I fit in episode 3 this morning or wait until the evening?!
Finished reading "Designing Hope" by @sarahhousley.bsky.social yesterday. An eye-opening read for me. Hadn't come across the term #GrowthAgnostic and I'm all for a #PostGrowthFuture. Lots of ways in which we can be positive for the future despite the political and financial climate now.
On iPhone at least, highlight the emoji as it spring text and tap the speak option. It will read out the meaning to you!
