Your aunt who drives a Subaru and fosters rescue dogs on her fourth craft beer at the family New Year's function
pip and herbert from great expectations as victorian ladies getting ready for a ball
scenes from great expectations if pip and herbert were GIRLS!!! herbert puts lipstick on pip, herbert and pip dancing & herbert saying “i’ll twirl you!”, bubble letters that say “save me pipbert yuri”, pip and herbert as little kids fighting in ms havishams yard & bubble letters that say “let’s fight”, herbert brushing pip’s hair out, and herbert struggling to open the door to their apartment.
i’m a great expectations fan first and forever. pipbert yuri
bones and kirk on a pink rocky planet, kirk is pointing his phaser behind a rock and says “any advice bones?” bones replies: “do i look like spock to you?” from his hiding spot behind a rock
based on the time i locked a giant spider in the bathroom and when i opened the door again it had disappeared
2 scenes from star trek the motion picture. first panel is spock arriving on the bridge and kirk saying his name. text reads ‘i know you don’t deal much, in love and affection’ second is the scene where spock is in sickbay following his visit to v’ger talking about how it can’t understand connection. text reads ‘but i really do think you can make an exception’
i know you don’t deal much, in love and affection, but i really do think you could make an exception. been listening to a lot of lorde lately and having thoughts on spock
3 sticky note drawings, one of TOS captain kirk that says “hurt his knee on planet pa-10 but is being real cool about it” (based on me hurting my knee at pax this weekend and trying to be real cool about sitting down for most of my shift) next to that is a drawing of 2 girls: one in a gothy outfit and the other in a wolf shirt. it’s captioned “romys LWOC :)” LWOC stands for lesbian werewolf oc’s which is a term my friend & i made up in college. below is a drawing of the same two girls and a dude in a sweatshirt. there’s a fourth person cut off. it’s captioned “when you can chop it up with anyone, and you’re wizards”
papa whole foods paid me to draw these
More scifi stuff should have jokes about tropes within alien media that make no sense to Humans. Like "Oh my God the old man wearing red...I woonder who's gonna die in an airport later on.🙄" or "They NEVER let a girl just own a bird in movies, it ALWAYS contains the spirit of some dead relative."
been reading the 60s star Trek comics and we should go back to doing comic book adaptations like that. Just give somebody who's never heard of the show a pile of press images and tell them to do whatever
Love doesn't just sit there, like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; remade all the time, made new.
a screenshot of text in a word processor. It reads as follows: In the 2025 film, he is tortured, yes, but above all else he is arrogant. His desire to create life is not a delicate mix of mental illness, grief, isolation, and fear, as it is in the 1818 novel. Instead this is a story of a man entitled to his wants, who will move heaven & earth and lie and steal and kill with his own hands- to create this life he so desires. Really the more I watched the more I could see it clearly: this is a story about the tragedies of a having a comically evil father. Shelley’s Victor is wrought with ambitions of his own. His time spent pursuing this goal is solitary and frantic and even at times deeply shameful- and most importantly it is entirely self-imposed. His father is loving, his future is a wealth of possibility, his home is happy (save for the recent and unavoidable tragedy of illness that took the life of his near-angelic mother). He wants for naught, he is loved and respected and he has the prospect of a long and successful life laid out bare in front of him. But his mother does die. And the encompassing grief of that cannot be ignored. At least I thought it would be absolutely foolish to try and adapt Frankenstein with any level of fidelity and not in its own way showcase the grief of losing a parent, and of losing a child (but we’ll get to that a bit later). He has (almost) all anyone could ever ask for and yet he is overcome by this endless and internal need so lay bare the secrets of life. His ambitions are motivated in part by grief, but mostly by his internal desire to succeed.

this is age-old discourse, i can't believe i'm seeing someone say this sincerely in 2025. this is a fake problem located entirely within a specific type of fandom. there is plenty of non-gay art about male friendship and being gay continues to be much more stigmatized than "men being friends"
digital sketch on a white background of star trek tos characters: Spock, Bones, Jim Kirk between them, behind are Uhura and Rand, Sulu on the side, they're all pigeons
ok, one day maybe I'll finish this, but I'm afraid it'll never be as glorious as the sketch version
I'm so tired of adaptations overtaking the source material in way that make it impossible to discuss the source material in meaningful ways.
yeah look at this again greatest gift EVER!!!
