Considering the conditions both have worked under, Pardew was maybe par for the course. Howe is very much underperforming.

He's obviously very good for the most part but I wouldn't put him in the same bracket as the elites of his era.

It's obviously an issue that he can't play with his feet very well but when you buy him, you know that you can at least account for it a bit.

However, for such a big keeper he isn't at all imposing when it comes to catching corners and crosses. That's the biggest issue for me.

And he's calamitous.
