"Effective immediately, and until further notice, the National Weather Service is temporarily suspending weather balloon observations at Omaha, NE and Rapid City, SD, due to a lack of Weather Forecast Office staffing. Offices will perform special observations as needed."

Balloons helped collect temperature, dew point, humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed/direction in the upper atmosphere twice a day.

Just as we move into severe weather season, the National Weather Service announces it will no longer send up weather balloons out of its Omaha office due to staffing issues.

A handwritten student note stating "I did not like the Books, I LOVE it, he is my favorite Disney character [and] I have a lot of things of winnie the pooh. PS, This is my stuffy Winnie." The note includes a hand-drawn winnie the pooh.

Today is Winnie the Pooh day and this is my favorite student note ever, with the hand-drawn Winnie the Pooh and note that Winnie the Pooh is the best. #reading #literacy #winniethepooh

An image of five books with a handwritten post-it from a third grade student asking for "I Survived Graphic Novels". Books are 'Who Were The Navajo Code Talkers?', "I Survived the Great Chicago Fire', "Girls Survive: Audrey Under the Big Top', 'Journey Under the Arctic', and 'Time Twisters: Abraham Lincoln, Pro Wrestler and Neil Armstrong and Nat Love, Space Cowboys'.

Ask and ye shall receive! A third-grade student requested I Survived graphic novels. Of course, we provided those, alongside other survival tales (with a bit of fun alongside!). Kids want to #read, especially #history and #biographies, providing essential background knowledge supporting #literacy.

It's #GivingTuesday. Give the gift of books and support your local literacy organization(s). Books power imaginations and bring joy; however, when over half of low-income children do not have access to books, support for literacy is needed more than ever.

We are purchasing a small solar charger and clothing items for the kid. Will also stock up on dry pasta, tomato products, some spices, batteries, and school supplies like pencils and writing notebooks.

Kids want to read, but not all students have access to a wide variety of books to read that are high-quality, interesting (to them!), and titles will change as they grow. Our nonprofit will circulate over 400,000 books this school year; the most popular category? Nonfiction because it's "fun!".

High-dosage access to books is a critical component of learning to read and joy to reading. Without access to books that meet students were they are (in all ways), how else will we spark imaginations, foster dreams, and promote literacy? 2/2

I am the CEO of a book access nonprofit in Nebraska that will circulate over 400,000 books this school year for students that otherwise don't have access to books. At my daughter's book fair this week, I had a stark reminder why my org exists. Five books for $58. 1/
