One in five young men can’t find a job. For those lucky enough to find work, we have the lowest minimum wage in the country, an even lower youth wage, and paycheques that haven’t kept up with inflation.

No buyer’s remorse here. Just lower energy bills, comfier homes, and air conditioning for our hotter summers.

Because we get asked a lot.

The Technological Republic, in brief.

1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation.

2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible.

3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public.

4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.

Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

We're not watching a war take place.

We're watching stock market manipulation for personal gain.

Effective 2025 federal tax rates paid by these corporations:

Alphabet: 8.01%
AT&T: 4.6%
Meta: 3.57%
General Motors: 3.09%
Amazon: 1.37%
Exxon Mobil: 1.31%
Disney: -1.57%
CVS Health: -3.88%

Income tax rate paid by the typical American: 14.5%

This is what a rigged system looks like.

Dear fellow Brits, from this Brit-American:

Please don't come here. It's dangerous. You may be targeted, arrested and unlawfully detained - likely courtesy of ICE - without access to legal representation.

I've told my family to stay away.

Please boycott America. 🇬🇧💙

I am sure that it is a coincidence that the Electoral Boundaries Commission final report has been deleted from the website. Good thing that I downloaded it when it was released.

I call on all Albertans, all political leaders, and all Canadians who believe in democracy to speak up now — sound the alarm, write to the Premier, call the UCP ministers and MLAs, and tell them:

Stop cheating. Stop trying to steal the next election. /7

BREAKING!!!

In what appears to be a completely unprecedented move, the UCP appear to be getting ready to toss all of the work of the electoral boundaries commission…

So they can draw the maps themselves!

Gerrymandering has arrived!
