Whatever happened to that free market I keep hearing conservatives endlessly drone on about? Surely banning renewables goes against free market principles!

Aren’t we in the very upper bounds of the models’ predictions? How does one know we’re on the verge of peak emissions? Do you mean peak growth rates for emissions? Those are not the same thing.

I just can’t get over all the different ways this programming and conditioning comes at us. It’s almost impossible to avoid. I fell for the Orban and Meloni media messaging. They only tell the parts of the stories that they want you to hear.

Centrists aren’t likely to betray the system that benefits them even though it hurts so many others.

Thanks for reminding me to never believe the messaging that is being pushed in legacy media.

Hailstorms in April? Warmer temps lead to unseasonably early storms The storm that ripped through Wisconsin April 14 was unseasonably early, something that could become more common as the earth's climate warms.

“some as big as softballs or baseballs, which shattered windshields, broke off chunks of siding on homes and broke off branches of freshly blooming trees. Tornado sirens blared across the neighborhoods, not because of an impending tornado, but due to hail so sizable it could injure anyone outside.”

But the Dems failed again without enough votes!!!! More than 80% wasn’t enough, so why spin this as progress?

None of this is news to those of us in the doomer community. We get to watch as more and more people try to come to terms with our predicament.

Don’t mention the climate: Trump creates ‘beyond absurd’ situation at global finance talks Developing countries face possible shelving of crucial green action plan at IMF and World Bank spring meetings

“Now, it looks like the new plan may be shelved, along with substantive discussion of the climate crisis.”

The IMF/World Bank’s handling of their “climate action plan” is showing yet again which climate-change-denying government has way too much sway over global affairs. 🇺🇸

Carrying on is all any of us can do. In the meantime, we get to watch the interesting ways that the non-doomer community tries to come to terms with our unfolding collapse.

New Study! Overshoot! Carrying Capacity! I feel like there's this special group of people who have been screaming about this for years.

I’m going to look on the hopium side. It could have been 100,000x previous predictions. How lucky are we that it’s only 1000x.🤪

Climate change linked to record wildfire extremes worldwide

“The study reveals that thawing permafrost can become 25 to 100 times more permeable, meaning gases can travel through it far more easily”

“If permeability rises dramatically, it may not only make it easier for greenhouse gases to escape – it could also change how radon moves through soil”

World held hostage by reliance on fossil fuels, Christiana Figueres warns – and climate health impacts are ‘mother of all injustices’ Former UN climate chief to co-chair Lancet Commission examining how sea-level rise is reshaping health, wellbeing and inequality

“I just think that enlightened self-interest based on scientific facts – which is what the commission is going to put forward – is a much more effective route to emission reductions than a legally binding agreement from which anybody can withdraw.”

This is magical thinking, and it won’t save us.

I remember 2008. I was so hopeful & optimistic. I thought Obama would fix everything. That was one of the last times I allowed myself to be fooled by a politician. I was a public school teacher. With public education, Obama was a disappointment right out of the gate. It was just downhill from there.
