'I think Ruth wouldn't have minded a boy, to make the set. For my part I was apprehensive at the prospect of trying to be an adequate companion for a lively youth. I'd be 60 when he was 10. I like girls, anyway: I'm not sure what you say to boys.'
Letter from my dear old dad to my Aunty Betty, announcing my birth:
'She was not delivered into the world quite as much of a finished article as Rosa was: she still looks like a purple monkey. No doubt this appearance will fade into the light of common day.'

A pink and green variegated young leaf.
Excuse my bragging, but my plant has grown such a pretty leaf.
T'Sculture Park.
Ignore the big tippex smear on the poster.
Please.
Here's a little starter - an amuse-bouche, if you will - of the ever-enormous roster of brilliant guests coming to Harrogate for our twentieth (!) convention this November. You should definitely come.
Absolutely pumped for it. Highly recommend The Comeback if you're not onto it yet?

If only!
I still occasionally dream about Mr Bennett. And also Noseybonk, unfortunately.
I picked my mum up from her care home earlier, and they were all listening to 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now'. Startling for too many reasons to mention.
It does, thanks!
It only took the perfect lighting, the perfect phone settings, and about 48 hours of my precious time.
What?
Still transcribing my dad's WWII diaries. They are eye-wateringly tricky (pic attached). Here, have a🧵of one of my favourite excerpts:
🚨 Rare post from us: We are on the lookout for a couple of new editors to work with us, specifically for French and Japanese language comics. You can read the full listing over here peow.studio/blog/newedit...
Mummy said that to the person who gets in the cupboard first when called, she will give a penny. Last night we went in the cupboard more times, I think, than ever before. I should have 5d from Mummy now.
Dad’s shattered nerves and agitation are primarily due, I believe, to Uncle Rob, who has got 4 years for embezzling £4000 and caused Dad worry. He gets so anxious when we hear planes or gunfire and won’t go into the cupboard when he calls.
It dropped quickly to earth leaving a long black trail of smoke behind it. Hermon Hill has been closed for some time now. I find that a bomb landed in the South View drive 30 yards from Cross’ House. It exploded under the road, and never even broke any windows. Air Raid Warning 6.30pm to 7am.
I looked to my left and saw that a barrage balloon, faint among the mist and cloud, had a strange reddish glow on it. I presumed that it was the lighting or the sun, or something illuminating it, but I had not really time to think before the flames and smoke belching from it.
Started pouring rain on Saturday night and has not stopped yet. Fog. Rain stopped momentarily at 10.15am, but not for good. Was coming home in a terrific thunder-storm from school when there was a terrific clap of thunder after a bright flash of lightning.

Will 100% be heading along to this. Looks brilliant. Well done @chrismole.bsky.social for pulling it all together.
After decades of visiting my family in Brighton, I finally caught the Starling murmuration off the pier.
