At my last job, months before the entire art team was laid off, we found a doc in the google drive about "potentially using AI" as a replacement. We were reassured that would NEVER happen, but here we are

The company is doing worse than ever now anyway. Every company is really doing the same lmao

Even conventions are the same, you have to now be a full time business with manus in china, professional social media presence, insane fees

And man, I need health insurance. That alone as a freelancer is $300+ per month in NY for the wood-tier plan

I really wish there were a way to just live my little life making my little money direct from people I sell art to, but it's frustrating that even the PLATFORMS bend to capitalism. Youtube, Patreon, Xitter

Now they (wrongly) think they can just use AI, or outsource, or hire less and pay less (people are desperate because of the economy) so it has all folded onto itself

I know the sentiment of anti-creative has ALWAYS been around, and I think that before, it's because companies begrudgingly still had to use artists for their products.

Even just interviewing with some of the most soulless, sociopathic people on the planet has almost killed all my hope for the industry. But the people I speak to outside of these companies are not so horrible. Capitalism really was a humanity killer.

I could elaborate if needed. I commiserate with peers/friends in the games and animation industries that probably also feel the same, and have been laid off recently as well
