ENet is just really easy in GDScript and, since it's just wrapping a C binary, the API between GDScript and Rust is similar enough that we can debug eachothers' stuff pretty easily

My friend doing the Godot side doesn't want to build the whole client in C#, so we tried making a little wrapper-client around Microsoft's QUIC implementation, but the documentation is shockingly sparse

We experimented with QUIC but it was too annoying to make Godot do it

Ultimately went with the Rust bindings for ENet

This is interesting. In my blogposts analyzing ATproto I had compared the shared heap vs message passing from a CS perspective

@ianopolous.bsky.social did the actual math though, and shows the incentives

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

An old 4chan post.

Image on the left is some satanist symbol or some bullshit

Original post reads: Ask a Satanist anything
Only reply: "How's the 8th grade going?"

Aragorn from Lord of the Rings with a chad-filter over his face. It accentuates the actor's cheekbones and chin to a ridiculous extent, and puts a permanent smoulder-esque expression on his face

Palantir is a quasi-fundamentalist subversive right-wing movement with a stock symbol

Fuck Palantir, fuck all these illiterate companies aping Tolkien's shit, and fuck anybody who works with any of them

imo any association with any of them is grounds for permanent ostracization at least, ideally legal consequences when all this shit shakes out

It's actually pretty phobic if you think about it?

After imprisoning your family members on the top of our highest tower and forcing them to watch as we ruin your life.... we also go home to our families? Some of us are gay even, smh

Here at Angband, a company we named after the Hells of Iron where the literal devil lives in The Silmarillion, we would like you to stop being so hostile to our war-crime activities.

Yes, this is evil and generally illiterate.

But they're also a tech company named after a communications device that becomes corrupted and only provides information from the perspective of someone called the "dark lord" and "the deceiver."

So, yeah, this is about what I'd expect. (1/4)

Hegseth saying “The Pharisee Press” should be a fully mask off moment. He is saying “The Jewish Press”. But Christians of all political stripes are so devoted to using Pharisees as a rhetorical prop that liberal Christians regularly insist it’s totally fine, no matter how many Jews try to explain.

Amazing that in the national divorce the libs are getting the NFL, butter and cooking oil, being attracted to adult women, standup comedy, Bud Light, and now also Catholicism

Yeesh. I knew the serde guy was bad.

What's the other language? Might have to start considering it for future stuff

Oh which languages? I imagine the one is Rust

What happened with Palantir and MS?

It's pretty good but they use the main character's amnesia as an excuse to have other characters lore-dump basic facts and history about the dev's D&D campaign at you

I'm fine with it in concept but the implementation is just really artless

I dont give a fuck if caitlyn jenner is the worst human being on the planet, she is the worst woman on the planet and deadnaming her is transphobic bullshit regardless of her actions. a trans person's gender is not a reward for good behavior that gets withdrawn when they suck

when people joke about the site crashing because of ai or vibecoding or whatever, it's very funny that the smug tech-brains not only get very upset but also are like errrrrm excuse me it wasn't ai we're just bad at it

And again, DDoS is the most generous version of this narrative, because, again

The alternative is that their SRE is bad enough that some critical piece of infra broke so badly with no big spike in users that it resembles a DDoS, lol

3 days ago 0 0 0 0

Like yeah this isn't an issue of vibe coding, it's way dumber

You spend 5+ years building this big Twitter clone, huffing and hawing about how it's decentralized the entire time, getting mad when people say it's not actually decentralized then boom

DDoS proves it's not meaningfully decentralized

It's genuinely really funny that when they first published it, the PDS (which should be absurdly simple to host) wasn't actually in a docker container

For a really long time my PDS was in a VM like it's 2008. It took some random dev to properly put it in a container

"Hey, here's docker containers for every layer of our decentralized application. Sure some are heavy, but slow hardware is better than no hardware, the big bits might just not run fast. You can configure them to meet your hardware and bandwidth limitations"

When an application is Distributed it means that you can use Distributed denial of service attacks to take down the whole thing, by attacking one component of it

It's an unfortunate tradeoff when building Distributed, Decentralized applications :(

3 days ago 1 0 0 0

My favorite thing about Decentralized Applications is how vulnerable they are to DDoS's

3 days ago 1 0 1 0

Honestly "vibe-coded" is probably the most generous accusation leveled at the devs

The alternative is that they were incompetent all on their own
