Someone should go on the Congress floor and say: This is really the equivalent of forcing parents to display copies of their children's birth certificates in the front windows of their home. What parental rights fanatic (whom I don't always agree with BTW) would ever consent to something like that?

Experts consider that food poison, so it may be an 8th amendment violation to serve it in jail; except by special request with all the applicable disclaimers and waivers.

Microsoft Windows is already illegal, a long time ago. They just have more money for lawyers to kick that can down the road.

Warning: This bill will force your operating system to give your children's NPPI away to everything they touch online, whether the parents like it or not. It's really the Parents DON'T Decide Act. BTW, it forces violation of Coppa, both letter and spirit.

Microsoft does not want this. Windows becomes illegal because they're not ready; ironically, some Linux distros are! Neither will the Fox News Parents Rights Crowd want it when they hear the truth, because it gives their children's NPPI away to everything they touch online. BTW it violates Coppa.

Actually, Windows will become illegal first. We have systemd for those on the pragmatic side.

Misleading bill title! I'd ask if parents really want a copy of their children's birth certificates handed out to everything that they touch online. Real predators & identity thieves will laugh all the way to the bank if this happens. Complying with this, (un)ironically violates Coppa by definition.

Move to censure the author for misleading title. This is mandating collection of NPPI on minors, and making that available to anything they touch online, whether the parent likes it or not! What a giveaway to real predators & identity thieves! Has the author of this bill even read Coppa?

The kids scan their birth certificates. They get emailed automatically to every malware developer and scammer on the planet. Since nobody can comply with this bill without violating Coppa, and vice versa, we're all going to jail.

Also tons of NPPI of minors easily available to malware developers, whether the parents like it or not! You have to flagrantly violate Coppa to comply with this so-called-parents-decide act!

EITLR: Isn't mandatory collection of NPPI on minors, in and of itself, a violation of #Coppa ?! #ParentsDecideAct is a very misleading title. Imagine every app a child touches handing over birth certificate scans, whether the parent likes it or not! A giveaway to real predators and identity thieves!

Does that mean paying the audience 49x the normal ticket price?

Digital "black-out" is too perfect. In the days of Nixon, information could be restored by photo-amplifying the blacked out areas.
