Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is now out in theaters worldwide and I’m very proud of the film and the work that I and my wonderful sound team have done. Lee wrote this letter to all projectionists around the globe screening the film and it says a lot about how incredibly passionate he is about sound ❤️🔊

Probably not no. The thing about restoration is it's done in a really accountable way, where every decision to "repair" is reconciled against some theory of authorial intent and doing the least amount of harm, or choosing to do nothing and leaving damage instead of attempting to fix.

Photo of Jeff Wexlar working in the back of a van with his sound gear.
It is with great sadness we have learned that Jeff Wexler passed away yesterday. Jeff was one of the most highly regarded Production Sound Mixers the film industry has ever known, and was an inspiration and mentor to many of the leading mixers working today. “The Last Samurai”, “Independence Day”, “Fight Club”, “As Good as it Gets”, “Almost Famous”, “Ghost” - his credit list is remarkable. His contribution to the film sound industry, and his unstinting efforts in building a unique film sound community through forums and guilds is immeasurable. May he Rest in Peace.

Hey all!
I'm urgently looking for an audio editing / sound design gig from now until end of January or ongoing if part-time.
I'm very experienced in voice editing (incl dialogue in film) and I love doing sound design for audio drama. Here's my reel.

I Hhave been told quite directly by the clients if I use generative AI at work with any work products I will “be in trouble,” and I am not the only one.

Kicking off awards season, AMPS members were invited to a screening of ‘WARFARE’ at Dolby's Soho base.
Followed by a Q&A with Production Sound Mixer Mitch Low AMPS, Supervising Sound Editors Glenn Freemantle and Ben Barker, and Re-Recording Mixers Richard Spooner and Howard Bargroff AMPS.
Will just plug massive.io here, it’s the same idea as WeTransfer but no subscription, all pay-as-you-go, and they have a downloader app for your desktop for the big stuff.
Very much time to stop using WeTransfer, with their updated terms that clearly state they have the right to use anything you transfer across their service, to train AI, create derivative works, basically steal and use anything you post through them. This is now laid out in section 6.3, posted below:
Still recording when I got up this morning which means I have a lovely 9 hours of city sounds to sort through. Amazingly the battery pack is still showing full charge!
Hey sound folks . Some time ago, I came across a physical modeling synth instrument where you could combine elements like plates, springs, speakers and rods in a 3D environment. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name. Any hints?

I’m working on an article about David Lynch’s unique sonic storytelling for the MPSE magazine Wavelength and have interviewed some of the sound designers he worked with during the years. Dean Hurley shared this photo with me of Lynch’s private mix stage and recording studio, Asymmetrical Studio. 1/2
That moment when you're hunting for the perfect sound… and it turns out to be something you recorded on a whim 7 months ago. I knew it would come in handy. #SoundDesign #FieldRecording
My life ❤️🎤🎧
Today is the birthday of one of the most important inventors in film sound: Jack Foley, who developed the method of performing sound effects live that’s still used on almost all movies! He died in 1967 and would have been 134 years old today. Sure had his own special style ❤️🎤 #filmsound #sounddesign
My friends Dark Angels in the pub today!
And the sound is also another Mission Impossible film!

Nice! I have a friend who’s also just started painting again after a long time so I get occasional updates when he brings his Dark Angels to the pub! 😆
Awesome! What chapter are you painting them as?
Ah, I still have one of those surround panners, one of my favourite toys!
If eBay is anything to go by, looks like your D1 could be a good pension plan! Just saw one on there for £1,200!
Closeup picture of a Zoom H1 essential portable recorder being held in one hand.
This sounds shockingly good, far better than it has any right to for the price and size. Kind of stunned at the leap in sound quality from my first handheld recorder!
I've just read every revision of ITU-BS.1770, -0 through -5 and I'm really annoyed because everybody seems to have a totally bonkers perception of what's in them... 🧵
(this is incredibly in-the-weeds unless you're a film or TV re-recording mixer you are warned)
Really lucky for Lisa that it’s not a lack of government funding that’s the issue
