One of my favorite encounters was on a boat pointing south in the Sea of Cortez when suddenly a pod of at least 60 dolphins took off toward the east in a single perfectly synchronized line. They kept in formation until they were out of sight. It was like watching the dolphin Rockettes.

I got a glimpse of one in India and I was actually swimming in the Amazon near the pink river dolphins in Peru. Fascinating how different they look from their pelagic cousins.
