A zipper pouch with a handwoven exterior. The fabric is blood orange and gold, and uses a weave structure called Spot Bronson (or Bronson Spot). The top of the pouch is curved. It is photographed with a holly branch and some pine cones for a festive winter look.

Popping on here to say if you're in the UK, I've got some handwoven stuff for sale on my website and on Etsy. (Website always better for fees, but either good)

Handwoven means nothing is automated basically. I treadle with my feet and throw the shuttle with my hands.

Cool! I'm designing something with intarsia, but I've only done some beginner projects. I didn't realise how hard it was to actually design something that looks good. It's like a whole new world of knitting

How do you feel about intarsia?

If you rent a car in the UK I think it's still the norm

So for my academia followers, might be worth mentioning I've resigned my PhD. (And want to mention my supervisors and lab groups were amazing--it just wasn't something I wanted to keep doing.)

You are welcome to continue to follow and I'm still interested in what you all are doing!

I'd love to hear from indie yarn dyers who would like to work together.

I would also love to hear from knitters (of all experience levels) about what they'd like to see!

I was mostly on Twitter and then I was mostly on IG and Threads, and now I'm trying to be here. Because fact checking is important.

I'm building a knitting design brand. I design everyday wardrobe staples inspired by modern fashion, but designed to last (and combat fast fashion).

I find that 1-6 are manageable to binge watch, but 7 is VERY intense (and also there's a lot of Vic Fontaine who is just... Idk, a different vibe). I love it but I can't binge watch it like the first 6. (Obviously all of ds9 is intense.) Also I miss Jadzia

Yes!!! I think there was an episode of ds9 where the o'brien family made it clear you can cook by hand and put the dishes in the replicator. It gave me an actual physical pang

Yeah it does to me too--even the smell is off-putting! So I always think it's a mistake using it, but curries etc I've made (i.e. things that rely on precise flavours) always taste really nice. I'll try it raw in a dressing sometime then!

I have only just started using it and I noticed I don't usually taste it very much in the finished dish (if it's high heat)--is that generally the case do you think?

Yes this exactly

Nb this is not a moral stance, I just don't enjoy it for some reason

It's also just like... I don't want to follow the same things. I do follow businesses on IG but I do NOT want to just read someone's marketing shit. with the lack of anonymity the marketing feels even more invasive for some reason.

You know how people pre-grieve? Well I'm solo parenting in a few days and I am pre-exhausted. Absolutely wiped.

The caterpillar does get a stomach ache after eating a ton of food, and only chews through a leaf the next day, which is definitely "not hungry-hungry, but I'll have a salad if you're getting something".
