LayerX has found a critical vulnerability in Anthropicโs Claude Desktop Extensions (DXT). A malicious Google Calendar entry can execute arbitrary code on the computer without any user interaction. However, Anthropic does not (yet?) intend to fix the problem:

I should probably add something that explains the ways it is *not* like Rust's serde crate.
BTW, Lodum is the first code I've released publicly in decades. I'm actually a bit nervous about how it might be received.
I committed the cardinal sin of spending a *lot* of time & effort procrastinating and polishing it without any real idea whether anyone else will find it scratches their itch.
Byte magazine cover featuring a desktop with a screen showing a green landscape, next to a window showing the real-life version, which is ugly, industrialized, and smoky.
The original Star Trek crew are at a holographic museum of "ancient technology," watching a guy scratch his head while reading a retro computer manual.
A painting, a window, and a desktop computer are all lined up to complete the same view, a scene of a blue mountain range.
A white-bearded Robert Tinney stands near an easel with a famous Tinney illustration of a smartwatch that runs on a micro-floppy disk.
RIP Robert Tinney (November 22, 1947 โ February 1, 2026), the artist famous for his playful covers for Byte magazine, a hobbist magazine that ushered in the microcomputing age from the mid-70s through the 90s. I'm honored to have included his work in my own art collection.
๐ lodum v0.2.0 is out! 1st release of a high-performance serialization engine.
Like Rust's serde? You'll ๐ lodum for #Python. Speed up Load/Dump operations with dynamic AST compilation.โก๏ธ๐

Biden Old caught on because "competence" was a major part of his value proposition. Meanwhile, Trump's "only I can do it" isn't about that, so Trump Old is NBD, just like Trump Crazy, Trump Corrupt, or Trump Lies. All orthogonal to nursing grievances, hurting outgroups, settling scores, flexing.

That first one in particular has mad ๐๐๏ธ๐ฆ vibes.
You could use one of the Stable Diffusion services, most have a free tier. I use mage.space, but there are others.
This is awesome. Are you familiar with the novel "Five Twelfths of Heaven", by Melissa Scott?
Tubes.
For example, if you are the type of person who is "bad with computers", because you somehow, inevitably, unerringly, always manage to stumble on the precise combination of actions that cause the Thingยฎ to Not Work, you may have a career in Testing and QA.
Okay, so your degree is in English and communication, specializing in Science Fiction, right?
There is work in the tech sector for documentation writers. And sometimes the documentation gets written *first* to guide the development work (which is a kind of SF).
But there are other options.
I just got the impression that OGH has a pen, likes it, and enjoys using it. But that's all he said. That doesn't preclude him being a hobbyist, but neither does it indicate that he is one. Perhaps I shouldn't read as much into that as I did.
I guess when I hear "hobbyist" what goes through my head is something like "collector". Like, I have and use a pocket multitool, but wouldn't ever describe myself as a multitool hobbyist or even an enthusiast. I appreciate the one I have, I know what I like about it, but that's as far as it goes.
I suspect that "this" is the idea that the rich should pay taxes.
It... kind of sounds like you use a fountain pen for utilitarian reasons, and are therefore neither a calligrapher (as you note) nor a fountain pen hobbyist...?
I think it says that you're about 69?
1a. In spite of the right to bear arms, no one has ever had the arms of a bear surgically transplanted.
... and after sex, there is certainly a lot of seiben.
It's Signal Boost time. If you've got an album, book, comic, crowdfunding project, game, movie, podcast, show or other arts project that could use extra attention, leave the details people need in replies where you see this and we'll include as many as we can in TFL this week.
Conspiracy board about a medieval hat, with red yarn connecting back to the original...
I actually traced back a SUPREMELY absurd misinterpretation of a medieval hat, one with impossible construction, to a single 1711 drawing of a crumbling statue that had clearly, from contextual clues, been missing some critical parts, and has since disintegrated so cannot be checked...

โฆoh, you mean me.
I am only an interested layman (in any field) but I kind of feel these are relevant to them all: ๐คจ๐ค

Hello!
Two of them look like twins, I would assume they arrived and left together.

"Be still, my black-hole heart." Or maybe "Heart of Darkness"?

Semi-serious suggestion: maybe try one of the therapy AI apps? Not sure if they are capable of refraining from offering fixes, but if one works for you it will certainly be a LOT cheaper, and available 24/7.
