What exactly IS brilliance?

#Intelligence (IQ) genius? Nope.

Moments of insight? Also nope.

In the newest edition of Mind Uncensored, I unpack an updated definition that will help you look for meaning and structure as evidence someone is truly #brilliant. Use the link in the thread to rethink.

You don't have to keep working through physical and spiritual exhaustion.

For decades, I thought the opposite.

I learned.

Now I want to pull you into your own rest.

Watch the video.

Say it with me:

Outsourcing your attention to nuance and the ability to integrate nuances into meaning isn't economical or efficient. It's abdicating your control.

It's not too late to keep -- and even strengthen -- you power.

When I was back in middle school, I'd pull out books that DEFINITELY could squash bugs -- Les Miserables, A Tale of Two Cities, etc.

Word on the street is that publishers are allergic to books of that length now.

Fortunately, it's not true.

But your book does need one thing -- sustainability.

Especially now when AI can spit out any old content, posts that actually have some fire and conviction are going to differentiate themselves. There's just too much noise not to post less, if that makes sense. I know it's counterintuitive, though.

People might rake you over the coals if you underperform. Overperforming tends to get kudos instead.

But both overfunctioning and underfunctioning can be dangerous. Both can be a way to cope with stress.

My latest edition of Mind Uncensored unpacks how (link in the thread).

So, my advice? If you don't feel truly obligated to the words you publish, don't publish them at all.

The standard advice I hear ALL THE TIME is that writers should engage consistently online. Because social media moves so fast, it's important to post a lot.

But that advice doesn't take into account how algorithms have changed. Quantity of posts alone don't mean you'll be seen.

So...if we can't really discover our entire, authentic self in a "settled" way, why seek?

Yes, we "find ourselves." The gurus aren't wrong about that.

No, we don't do it all at once in a massive flash of enlightenment.

It happens little by little. Every day. For our entire lives. And we STILL might not gather all the pieces.

Why You Need to Schedule Time to Do Nothing on Your Book - TakingDictation Authors schedule editing, book design and more. But are you scheduling time to let your book sit so you can adjust it better later?

Your book has to get out as quickly as possible.

That doesn't mean you should skip time where it's on the shelf.

Leaving a manuscript alone isn't irresponsible. It's how good books become great.

My latest FREE blog (link in the thread) highlights how an increasingly common form of NDAs can do real damage to writers AND the clients they work for.

Not all NDAs are gross for writers. Many offer valid protections.

But most NDAs we see in ghostwriting?

They don't fall into that category.

It's hard to know which type of intelligence to focus on and develop. But in my latest edition of Mind Uncensored, I argue that spiritual intelligence--which we shouldn't confuse with religion--is the ring to rule them all.

🧵

Success requires us to be...

...emotionally intelligent--grasping our feelings and the feelings of others,

...socially intelligent--understanding interpersonal dynamics,

...linguistically intelligent--aware of our words and how to communicate effectively,

...and so on through the alphabet.
