This tracks. For elementary, I need to hand them 200 pages or less. Students (even elem) are not given time to read real books in class anymore. How can we build reading endurance without giving them time to practice? #tlsky #skybrarian

I am supposed to be working on taxes, but have you seen this Etsy shop? It's the kind of rabbit hole I love diving down. I want to buy all of it!
It's a huge project, takes a lot of time and planning, but it is so worth it. I converted a second library after inheriting one that was already done, and I will never go back!
Librarian here. We ❤️ going down the rabbit hole of all things bookish. I find so many great books on SM to read and then add to our collection. I want to know all the quirks about your story, how it came to be, etc. Give me a reason to connect & buy! If it's not for me, I'll scroll on, no worries.
Happy almost April. School Library Month! 🎉 Was working on this Adobe Express template for @kasl.us and decided to make one without the branding. If you are, were, or want to be.. a school librarian, thank you for everything you do! readwhatyouwant.com/april #TLsky #SchoolLibrary #SchoolLibrarian
My 3 dogs are lounging on pillows in front of the lit fireplace. There are two big dogs on a pillow in front and one slightly smaller dog on a pillow to the right. Above the fireplace, hang red, green, and white Christmas stockings
I do have these fur babies to keep me company at home already, so there is that, too.
A black wire cage holds two kittens, and orange and white and gray and white. They are both lounging while TX librarians ooh and awe over them.
At the TLA conference with all my library peeps and stumbled upon the kitties! Yes, they are all up for adoption. No, I did NOT bring a new friend home (I have allergies). I love furry friends, even when they make me sneeze! #TLA #librarians
I wondered how WNBA players got a 400% raise. It only took a Nobel Prize winner in Economics. Claudia Goldin, I salute you. Gift link!
An amazing must-read! TY!

The most common response to "I hate reading" is "You must not have found the right book yet". But that feels like a disservice to readers. Yeah, yeah... I know that there is a book for every reader. But I also know that if you only have 1 comeback to "I hate reading", you probably lost that reader.
The cover of When the Beat Was Born by Laban Carrick Hill, illustrated by Theodore Taylor III, shows a young DJ Kool Herc spinning a record while wearing a pair of headphones.
I think I need a record player for school. I had to explain what a record is and my def was a large disc that is almost like a Spotify channel for your favorite artist. 😆 A few kids knew you had to put it on a turntable, others thought it went in the DVD player. This book started the convo. 📚👍
Love when I see a #bookrec, and the book is sitting in my TBR pile! This one is moving to the top!
Loved book 1! Can't wait to share this one with my readers!
If you cannot find The Librarians documentary on your local PBS station, you can find it on youtube. If you are in Harris County, TX, it will air Tuesday, Feb 10 at 10:30 PM on KUHT (channel 8 PBS). #librarian #fReadom
The struggle is real. I have 2 school libraries, so I feel like I am always fighting the dust!
The cover of the young adult novel The House of Quiet by Kiersten White shows a Victorian 3-story black house with a red window.
Loved the YA novel The House of Quiet by Kiersten White. MC Birdie searches for her sister in a mysterious house. This fantasy keeps the reader off-balance w/chapters from perspectives of dif characters and a world governed by a caste system. Would love this for a YA collection! #bookrec #librarian
The purple cover of Coach by Jason Reynolds has 3 tween boys, 1 tween girl and a coach in a green track suit. Coach is the final book in the 5-book Track series by Jason Reynolds.
I know goals are supposed to be measurable but I avoid setting rigid reading goals. 2025's goals: read more than in 2024(109 books) & more adult books. As an elem ed librarian, I already read lots of MG and kidlit. Nailed it: 230 books/25 were adult. 2026 goal: More YA. Started w/Coach! #librarians
I'll take it. The world can always use more kindness.
As kids, we used to collect their shells. Lacking a container to put them in, we'd attach them to our shirts. I now have 3 children, and all learned not to fear bugs, in part (I think) because their mother attached cicada shells to their shirts when they were tiny.
"I tell aspiring writers that you have to find what you MUST write. When you find it, you will know, because the subject matter won't let you go. You have to be compelled to write. If you're not, nothing else that you do matters." —Rick Riordan

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone except politicians who try to destroy libraries and public schools.
I hope their turkey is super dry today.
So excited that the IMLS can continue to serve libraries across the nation! You can read more about it here: www.ala.org/news/2025/11... #libraries #librarian #fReadom
That's a great idea! I have a whole stack of old book jackets that I could use.
Weeded books make great bookmarks!
