I got distracted reading in a library a while back and fell over after standing like that for a while. Fortunately no injuries except my ego 😁.

Sorry, I’m not sure why the alt text isn’t working, but it’s a video of a brown and gray squirrel running across a forest floor on an overcast day.

Maybe they can make a replica with the walls separated, so you can see what the inside looked like, without having to crawl inside to see.

Yeah, looking at my old pictures, most of them don’t look large enough to easily crawl through, even if they are replicas. I think Artemis might be larger, but they still might have it blocked off.

I was curious, so I went through my pictures from a couple years ago. They do indeed have several space capsules (unsure if they’re authentic or replicas). I don’t remember or have pictures of any you could go through though. That would be cool if you could though.

Of course as mentioned there are benefits to the customer being able to see and try out the product. Sometimes you can arrange to display manufacturer-owned products, which reduce the risks. But a lot of it is just looking at metrics and balancing the pros and cons.

Once you put inventory on display you have to sell it as β€œopen box.” And also overall you don’t a lot of inventory that could go β€œstale” & unsold if a sale doesn’t develop before the next year’s models come out.

An interesting post. I do accounting for a small / medium sized audio/ video retailer. We don’t sell cameras, so their concerns might be slightly different, but in our case I think the concern is more having excess inventory overall, including displayed inventory, than specifically theft.

For birds in their element, here are two pigeons in the city! I really like the brickwork. This particular building is the Central Heating Plant in Washington DC. #birdoftheday

Interestingly someone had posted a sign in my apt bldg with a local phone number included, but they formatted it differently.
I can’t remember exactly how it was written, but something like 23-9999-5555, instead of 239-999-5555. Presumably they’re used to seeing phone numbers in a different format.

I think I usually say each digit individually, like four five zero zero instead of forty five hundred. But I see the benefits of both methods.

For the #birdoftheday, here’s what I hope qualifies as a #shortleggedbird, an Eastern Kingbird. Also a shot of a gull *almost* in the water 😁.
