$4.8M in crypto stolen after Korean tax agency exposes wallet seed South Korea's National Tax Service accidentally exposed the mnemonic recovery phrase of a seized cryptocurrency wallet in an official press release, allowing hackers to steal 6.4 billion won ($4.8M) worth in cryptocurrency.

Even governments can't handle seed phrases. And we still assume our friends or family will handle a post-it with seed phrases correctly when we're no longer here? www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/securi...

Beta testers kept asking the same question: "What should I actually store in my Trustbourne vault?"

So I wrote it up. Folder structure, what goes where, what your family actually needs in the first week vs. later.

How we encrypt your vault (and what we can and can't see) — Trustbourne Every file is encrypted in your browser before it reaches our servers. Here's how both encryption modes work, what the tradeoffs are, and why we're honest about them.

Most services say 'we can't read your data' and leave it at that. We wrote up exactly what Trustbourne can and can't see in each encryption mode — and why we offer both. trustbourne.com/blog/how-we...

Besser als jeder Autofahrer? Super-Assistent von Tesla im Check Erste Fahrt mit dem Tesla FSD Supervised. Was der Super-Assistent von Tesla wirklich kann!

2/2 in the least secure mode, the encryption key will be derived from the password. We'll have a middle mode where the files are encrypted using a key we don't have, but the metadata (eg filenames) aren't. The user could put "hints" to where to find the key in the filename.

We have multiple modes of encryption, depending on the risk the user is willing to take. In the most secure mode, we'll tress the recipients should either have a copy of the key, or other means are needed to pass the key "when needed". 1/2

Started building something I've needed for years.

A dead man's switch for files, passwords, crypto keys. Checks in with you. If you go quiet, your people get access.

It's called Trustbourne. Landing page just went live: trustbourne.com

I am often asked to provide a second opinion on pentest reports. It was one of those days again. I nearly wrote "If the pentester disagrees these are all bogus, I encourage them to contact CloudFlare, Vanta and Framer and collect a huge bug bounty".
