Power without accountability: The Palantir manifesto The problems with our tech philosopher kings

New, from me: Take the Palantir manifesto seriously, if not literally.
It reveals that our tech philosopher kings want public money, but without public accountability. This creates a dilemma for governments unaligned with its techno-fascist vision. 🧵

Clearly, this disqualifies Palentir as a business partner for any other country than the U.S., not just in defense and security related sector but ANY sector — as information is power.

European countries should not just start new collaboration with Palentir, they should divest it ASAP!

A tweet from Pope Leo XIV that reads: “When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.”

Apparently the Pope has read Baudrillard.

Extremely normal and fine for a company to put this in a public statement

That is what failed states do.

2012: conservatives cut 20,000 police and never put them back, in the name of austerity. Likewise the courts. We have yet to recover from these crimes against the country.

This is an extraordinary story they deserves much more airtime. Shocking in so many ways. Share widely.

A great article, and that is the paragraph to highlight. Still, more power to the YIMBYs (and thus to young people in general) would help in the long term.

What a fantastic job, and what a clever, engaged hiring process.

It is beyond ridiculous that a government that is allegedly concerned about social cohesion and the rise of populism is doing nothing to stop this latest act of vandalism against the BBC.

This is why people feel worse off.

The BBC is the national broadcaster. It covers those events which bind the nation.

Now it's dying. Killed finally by a Labour government who hates them. Sure, the Tories did their best to destroy it but Labour have done nothing to save it.

There is a Churchill anecdote where a minister in 1940 suggests cutting budgets for theatre + arts and using the money for defence.
"Well what then are we fighting for?" He is reputed to have said.

Tax and local services are the same, for those who pay them. What then are we paying for?

I’m a Nobel Prize-winning immigrant. I can no longer recognize this country. Attacks on science and immigrants are destroying America.

"All of these things frighten me, and they should frighten you as well. I made the decision to create a life for myself here, because I viewed this as a place that rewarded determination, hard work, and integrity. It still has a chance to be that place again."

The Telegraph just gave a convicted criminal a two-page spread to explain why he's pumping £4 million into Reform UK. They tucked his criminal record away in the small print. So as a former financial crime specialist I’ll do their job for them👇

Ben Delo isn't just a "billionaire expat" with a soft spot for Farage. In 2022 he was found guilty of serious criminal charges in the United States. American prosecutors said he deliberately built a dodgy crypto platform designed to help people hide dirty money. He admitted as much in court.
