Will this include winners of the Outstanding Comics for Children and Outstanding Comics for Teens awards that were inexplicably left out of this year’s announcements?
@libcomix.bsky.social Can we have today’s press release please?
I’ve been watching the list of press releases unfold here: www.ala.org/news/view-al...
I may be done with ALA once I’m off this committee. Bah.
Alas, they’ve left out GNCRT’s Outstanding Comics for Children and Outstanding Comics for Teens awards, both during the announcements and when releasing the press releases. So, no, it’s not a link to all the winners. ☹️
Hi, @wearealsc.bsky.social, @yalsa.bsky.social, and @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social, where are GNCRT’s Outstanding Comics awards lists/press releases? I’m pretty sure they count as youth media. Can anyone explain why they’ve been excluded from today’s announcements?
Where is the GNCRT Outstanding Comics Awards list press release?!? I was told they’d be released alongside the #ALAyma awards. What the heck?

Now that I’m 57, I am somehow ten years older than everyone I meet, regardless of their actual age.
Thanks! I’m hoping that stays the same throughout the series, then. I appreciate the help!
@brigidalverson.bsky.social Brigid! Is Komi Can’t Communicate okay for middle schoolers? Or should I move the series to teen?
Who do I talk to about getting new joke and riddle books published for kids?
Let’s say we hosted a program at the library, maybe call it something like Brown Bag Storytime, where adults could bring their lunch and listen to short stories or book excerpts while eating. Is that something anyone would come to?

I’m currently in the process of expanding my children’s graphic novel collection from 7 to 14 bays of books. That’s bigger than some libraries’ entire adult fiction collection. So, yeah. Attending ALA Annual is worth your time.
As is proper.
Needless to say, tonight is a two Aleve kind of night. Oof.
I may have reached peak bright idea: rearranging almost the entire children’s department in order to increase easy readers, moving up, fiction, and doubling the size of the graphic novel section. By myself. In July. While the elevator is out of order.
It’s a known fact that I have a short attention span, resulting in my embracing bright ideas to keep from getting bored at work.
Glad you like it. And thanks for visiting the library! 😁
@andrewwheeler.bsky.social Holy Cow! I open up the NYT (granted, three days late) to see the cover of your book! Congratulations, this is so good!
I’ve had the account forever, but I keep forgetting it exists. I’ve gotten really bad at social media. Not that I was ever very good at it. I’m trying to be better!
@mjbeasi.com Dude! I just opened PW’s newsletter and saw your gorgeous face. Congratulations, my friend. You did it! I can’t wait to read this book!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Quick manga shelving question: we’ve had Cardcaptor Sakura in our children’s collection since it was first published by Tokyopop, who labeled it as all ages. The rerelease from Kodansha has it labeled as ages 14-17 years. Should I move the series to teen or leave it alone?
If art helped you heal, even if that art was created by a deplorable person, please know that you extracted the joy, strength, and insight from YOURSELF. No matter how awful they are, your healing is pure and it’s entirely and wholly because of *you*
I’m spending New Year’s Eve weeding graphic novels that have circ’d over 100 times. I wonder how many of these are still in print (side-eye at Marvel).
100% correct.
I couldn’t possible think less of you, Tony. {badumpbump}
