Dewoitine D.550 from 1939 was a speed record aircraft derived from the D.520 fighter and powered by a Hispano-Suiza 12Ycrs developing 900hp, later replaced by a 12Y-51 developing 1300 hp. It was capable of reaching speeds of 703km/h at 6500m.
It was used as a basis for the D.551 fighter.
