Started this day with a frog, and I'm ending this day with a frog.

Never doomscroll when you can # scroll your fave nature cuties instead! 🥰

Ribbit!

No, no, that bit comes afterwards if you've done it to the point of being "shagged out".

Although, what a species of Cormorant has to do with it I have no idea.

I guess this opens a can of worms because we also say "have dinner" too. 😂

A small drawing of a mistle thrush bird sitting on a branch laden with mistletoe with white berries. The bird is brown with a pale breast with dark spots. The drawing is on brown paper with a light green background.
The mistle thrush likely got its name from its love of mistletoe - it will defend a berry-laden tree with extreme ferocity!
An original art work, please note that the frame is not included.
Colour pencil and mixed media on acid free toned artist paper
5 by 7 inches (12.7 by 17.8 cm).

A bit like the seagulls from finding Nemo then: "mine! mine! mine!" :D

Gotta love a little creature with a big personality. ❤️

I like all the plants 🪴 unfortunately not all the plants like me, anything potted needs to be hardy enough to survive the fact that I find their care tags misleading and it takes me a long time to figure out exactly how much management/interference they really need.

Why even would you when you and your buddies could RP for free?

You kinda would have thought this was already covered by "All rights reserved. No part of this publication may be reproduced, store stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any way or by any means, ..." any of which, that doesn't fall under fair use because a 3rd party is profiting from it. 🤦

🧵 Real sustainability is needed for our environmental future. Reduce, reuse, and recycle needs to be more than an empty promise, and now. Not on household scale (proven not to work) but starting with industries. Those with the most power should take the most responsibility. grist.org/accountabili...

🧵To stop our environment being actively poisoned we need to use less not more, no "investment" buying the "new" thing made of the same toxic materials can solve environmental issues when sustainability is always an afterthought. 🧵

ಠ_ಠ Society is being sold short term faux-solutions to climate change. Plastic food wrappers hidden inside cardboard boxes isn't green. Plastic (oil) components in energy production as an "alternative to oil" isn't green. Having no universally accessible end of product life plan isn't green. 🧵

"I'd never let my son play with dolls, aren't you afraid he'll grow up to be a g-"
"A gentle soul? A good father? We hope so!"

Hanging around parent friends I've overheard something like this exchange a number of times before.

In response to some bullshit going around:

Can we please fucking destigmatize men being nice to / caring about / engaging with kids? These are normal adult mammal instincts; what's fucked up is that we beat them out of people based on gender and/or assume they're inherently predatory.

Oh I think teachers and librarians try to, but get punished for it by busybody prude groups and legislators who are more concerned with being seen to be doing something good rather than actually doing something good. So if I ever say "^ quote text" it'll be because they aren't allowed to anymore. :(

Awww! It's also weird that people misinterpret the backing-away of men around kids because often guys (big guys especially) are not going "ew toddler" when they interact with little kids but are very visibly doing a "hold gentle, me strong, must not squish the smol" instead. 😂

Yup. A little acknowledgement goes a long way. And I don't mind getting a reason but I don't want an excuse. If someone makes a good apology it won't be dramatic, spoon draining, or making a pity party for themself.

A poster with a colorful stack of books on the left and this text on the right:
“Hey, Teenagers: Pay close attention to the books people try to ban. Then, make a beeline to read those books, if you can. Find out for yourself why those people want that book banned. Find out for yourself if they can be trusted to know what’s best for you.”

None of them have been to a brewery then, because having been on a brewery tour which did allow kids I can confirm nobody allowed the minors to do the alcohol tasting session at the end. They served the kids soft drinks instead. It was a complete non-issue (much like most things people argue about).

Landscape fabric covered with a tangle of irrigation drip lines and brown Doug fir needles is brightened by a vividly green thumbnail sized Pacific Chorus Frog (Pseudacris regilla), cruising the detritus for invertebrates to munch. Frog is very cute!
