Coachella is trying to wipe all of the footage of The Strokes protest set so I’m gonna post it here. The last images on the screen made me cry.
AI is going to have rights before trans people.
Moderna layed off huge swaths of its QA and R&D departments meanwhile Anthropic is offering software engineers mid to high six figures to build the fruit people video machine.
I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.
A few days ago I watched Ed Zitron say that CEOs need to stop saying AI will destroy jobs if they don’t want people to throw Molotovs at their houses. I’m sure this is completely coincidental
I made a decision very early in my college education to not touch defense contractors with a 10ft pole and it has turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made.
The intended behavior of a system is what it does.
Like even if this guy is somehow a “reformed Nazi” or “everything is taken out of context” the stuff he’s saying now is making me pretty convinced this guy is going to be a second Fetterman at best.
One thing that is absolutely horrifying with this is how many people I personally know in Maine are sticking their head in the sand about this guy.
i don't like that platner guy because a) nazi tattoo & b) if a genuine progressive was revealed to have a regretted nazi tattoo somehow they would be subjected to relentless attacks over it from places that're suspiciously quiet about platner. i consider that telling
In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.
They aren’t even bothering to dog whistle anymore
Idk who needs to hear this but ACAB includes landlords
An infographic. There are six panels. 1. "Slow internet. Alt text is shown in place of unloaded images." a drawing shows a phone with poor signal, and alt text is visible where the image should have loaded. 2. "Findabillity. Alt text helps to search content." A drawing shows someone searching 'dog with banana' and a post is shown underneath without the words 'dog' or 'banana'. It is implied to be part of the alt text. 3. "Screen readers. Alt is read out to people using text-to-speech software". There is a drawing of the output a screen-reader would show when viewing an image with alt text on bluesky. 4. "Translation. Alt text can be translated". A drawing shows a post being translated. The alt text is also translated into german. 5. "Readability. Text in images can be made legible" There is a drawing of some truly awful handwriting inside a speech bubble. The alt text clarifies what the text is supposed to say. 6. "Disambiguation. Description helps clarify intent." There is a drawing of a post with a picture of a creature. This is styled after the famous optical illusion of a rabbit and a duck. The alt text clarifies that the animal is a rabbit. It definitely looks more like a duck.
Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs.
However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!
No one is immune from stray particles flipping your bits etc etc
I still remember my OS course when the professor just casually mentioned bit flips and how you need to write code to correct it in firmware and just carried on. It’s even worse now with smaller diecasts and the whole “electron tunneling” problem.
Republican attempt to erase trans women could derail long-awaited Smithsonian museum

I have never felt better about my decision to privately store my photos.
passkey is imho one of the most important security developments that touch consumers and also one of the worst consumer rollouts i ever witnessed because every company involved treats everything like an enterprise customer solution
Hey seriously, literally in the bills it says they'll also use identifying information, such as your age data for "other purposes". That means your data goes into a government surveillance database. This would be for ANY *OS*, which is the thing your fucking PC runs off of.

Hey Luna-this is Jabari, Regional Political Director with MNs for Klobuchar. 🎉Congrats on becoming a Alternate to the DFL State Convention! Can we count on you to support Amy Klobuchar at the convention? Text STOP to quit
Right now, I'm leaning towards no, but I'm open to changing my mind. My main concern is this: in order to pass a budget back in 2025, Walz and DFL members in the legislature had to allow Republicans to remove the eligibility for undocumented Minnesotans to access MinnesotaCare. Based on Sen. Klobuchar's votes in favor of not one but two NDAA's with transphobic provisions, I'm incredibly concerned about her allowing for backsliding on trans rights and protections in our state in exchange for Republicans passing a budget. If Senator Klobuchar doesn't strongly state her support for the trans community and make it part of her platform before the convention, I can't in good conscience vote for her endorsement. If she does commit wholeheartedly to supporting trans rights, even at the cost of a state government shutdown, then she'll have my support.

Hmmmm
Exactly one year ago today:
The Lord moves in mysterious ways but you don't have to. Use your fucking turn signal.
I mean....or they don't care and IDK if I want to find out.
I still remain amazed in the year of our lord two thousand, and twenty-six that people are still completely oblivious to JKR's transphobia.
Making two restaurants next to each other(with another building in between), one allergy free and one allergy dense.
Cramming as many common allergens into dishes as possible for people who want to roll the fucking dice on finding out if they're allergic to something.
